Can anybody explain me as to why this ride is called ecoride?
IMO, it doesn't seems to be a green ride, motorcycles are never a green option.
I love riding bikes myself but riding bikes in the name of eco/go-green doesn't seems right to me. There always is a guilt feeling with me when i ride bikes but i somehow live with it.

It's a great idea. All the participants should share their experience with other members. Looking forward for your views guys.

The maiden ECO RIDE was successfully completed and I'm really thankful to all participants: Manas, Munish, Rakesh and Abhinav for making it a memorable ride. With loads of fun filled time and straight and curvy roads, the journey from Delhi to Naldhera never deter our passion and will power.

I would request all the participants to share their experience on the ECO RIDE.

A special thanks to Shivanshu for guiding us on how to ride on mountains and in also in groups. He is a true & passionate biker.

                          Ride safe all !!!!

                            Ride Experience.

Well guess guys I'm the first to go, as i was the last to join and first to leave the ride so let me begin. Well the ride began on 11-02-2011 the coincidence is so that its impossible to forget even the date as the first 4 digits of the date is the mirror of the next 4 digits 1102-2011.

Having said that the group started to ride at 6.30am and I had missed my flight from the earlier day from Ahmadabad with no flights that eve from there, had to take da flight to Delhi at 12.45 the next day from Vadodara which turned out to be 1hr late. Having missed these guys and confused to ride of not, i remember SMS'in Shivanshu "Iv tried too hard to give up now" so pushed from NOIDA at 4.30pm on the day of ride dropping a message to Himanshu and Shivanshu saying im on my way. Well none in da ride had met me so it was one hell of a question mark for these guys if i was kidding or am I seriously heading towards them, guess da rest can be explained better by others sitting tight in da hotel room thinking if im fooling them. I'm sure Shivanshu will be happy to write quite a few words abt that. Im the mean while I ended up pushing hard as the Highway was an old friend of mine as always. My first stop was in Chandigarh at 8.45 PM for a refuel of myself and for da bike.

Well the first part of the trip was uneventful the second part was a 100km hill climb to Naldhera. Well being from the south, da mountains have never been a real play ground for me. In the dark on a hill climb this was not my first exploit on a bike, so I knew I needed to understand da tarmac and nature of curves. First 15kms was a pulse finder trying to find my pace and rhythm as I was testing the waters for the first time in this part of the country controlling the speed to a 50km/hr limit. Then it was time to unleash with the widest of hill roads I had ever experienced I was growing on confidence, the rest of 85kms was a blizz, as I forgot the speedo ever existed, just to find in the last leg of the climb that i was doing close to 85km/hr scraping the foot peg more than i would have liked. No traffic, great roads and even better was da weather It was pleasant though cold never was too cold thanks to the RJ All Season Jacket.

The special part was the last part of the ride from Mashobra to Naldhera the roads are just the way i like them, just wide enough for you to be safe but narrow enough for you to be on your tows flipping da bike from one side to other. The road is great and after 8hrs of riding the headlight was playing games which was fun. Over all to catch up with the gang in the hotel rooms for the night stay.

The surprise was to find Shivanshu out in the cold calling for me. It was fun as ever and was even better for me. The rest would be better if Shivanshu can explain as I remember the expression on this face that night.

The rest will follow as others reply....

For the ones who missed this, take it as an advise from me don't dare miss it the next time.

                            Till next write up Chao,
                            Rakesh

                                The First ECO RIDE:

Thanks Rakesh on initiating the ride experience talk.
The first group ride, that too on mountains and that too with xBHP, its sure to become an unforgettable lifetime experience and yes it was.
The ride was to start from Delhi at 5:30 a.m. I reached the starting point with my pulsar 150 at 5.30 only and found Munish (on red pulsar 220) and Manas (on his superbly self modified bike, which I actually discovered after 100 kms that it was a Discover ) already waiting there. After few minutes Himanshu and Shivanshu arrived and briefed us about the group ride disciplines.
I 've never thought that group ride is more about teamwork & co-ordination then about riding the bike. the way these two veterans guided us newbies was absolutely fantastic.
And off we go. We started in the staggered form and rode till we reached the foothills. Wow!! what a sight!! for a guy who had only throttled his motorcycle in the plains, it surely was an achievement to push his bike at this place. it was hard for me to believe that I am now actually going to accelerate on the mountains.
But before this Shivanshu, our mentor again briefed us about dos and donts of mountain rides. I remember him saying," Mountains never forgive your mistakes".
Now we 5 were on the curves and yo!! what a feeling man. I and Manas were visibly so excited while riding that himanshu was getting the thrills on seeing the two of us turning. After getting comfortable at 40 kmph we were easily negotiating at 50-55.

The weather was initially quite welcoming and it gradually became chilly by the evening.
Our destination was a resort in Naldehra. the way to that resort was through a 5 kms. offroad track. Since it was dark, for our safety, the mentors decided to make the night stay at a Hotel.
So, we were now off for the day and time to have rest. The stars were gleaming brilliantly with the moon, bidding us perfect Good Night. the Hotel person was very nice and prepared us one of the best dinners i had in my life. yeah, one more thing, first time in my life, i was surrounded with four guys (later they were five) and discussing about bikes and rides only, that was something I was missing badly in my routine life.
Here, I got to know that one more guy (read Stud ) is on the way and will be joining us by midnight.
Hats off to you Rakesh, you are a true biker who actually follows his heart.
Next day write up tomorrow, till then cheers,

                                Abhinav
                                To be Continued.....
