    Trek to Khaliya Top continued:

After a short break of 20 odd minutes, we continued further after the KMVN TRH. But this break turned of no use as I was still struggling for breath after every now and then, but I have not learnt to give up. Hence I was going on but with numerous micro breaks
Meanwhile I passed through some stairs, gravelled path, traversed through rocks and sometimes interesting curves hanging over the steep slopes. Amazed by the beauty of the surroundings I kept on going...
As you approach towards the top, you can see insane(could not thing a more dangerous word) valley view at one side and those glorious peaks at the other. perhaps these pics can give you a little idea:

Few Twists and Turns from the trek:

A Sacred establishment, created by shepherds:

End of stone laid path from the Bugyal, from now on you might find few stone marks, but not everywhere.

    Another Guide with his clients:

Never thought that valley view could be so eye catching even when there are numerous snow peaks with you:

    Feels like King of Kumaon:

Most tourist come back from the bugyal, but being quite some time in hand I wished to reach the top most point where I could see a sheet of some snow and so Gangaram nodded. Now I was heading towards the zero point to have 360 degree view of entire Kumaon region...

    to be continued...

Towards the highest point on Khaliya Top:

We walked over the Bugyal(grassland) and started ascending towards the top and then towards the other side from where you can see Majestic Nanda Devi peak and the amazing valley views having all those roads that you have to ride on to reach this place. Looking back to what you have gone through gives me a mesmerizing feeling that too from the top is something that I
would love to do again and again.

The climb to the top was a triky one. First, we crossed the bugyal followed by a long ridge, then the boulders, a small patch of vertical slope and then a short but steep climb on soft snow. Ascend on the soft snow was the most difficult part of the entire trek because of vertical climb.I had to make the cut in the snow with the help of shoe's toe and then take the next step.I slipped around 3-4 times but managed to balance. Finally we reached a place from where Munsiyari and Panchchuli ranges were at one hand and Nanda devi, trishul along with valley view covering Thal, Bageshwar, Birthi at the other. It was soft snow all over the top with scattered dry bushes. We found a small rock for a break and had our lunch there.

        Crossing the Bugyal:

        Crossed The Boulders:

        The Vertical slope:

        The Ridge:

Ascending through the tricky soft snow:

Some random shots at Khaliya top:

              The Happy Soul:

Had our lunch there on the rock

After having meal on the roof of Kumaon, it was time to get down to Munsiyari. Gangaram started the descend but I did not moved, I was having some other plans...waited for him to finish the snow part and then shak...shak...shoooookkkk.... I skiied through the entire patch of soft snow, it was fun

              m lovin it

              Milam Glacier:

Again we crossed the wild forest:

Loved the scattered leaves all around:

Started at 9:30 and back at 15:50, approx 16Kms in less than 6.5 hours, not a bad record

              The victory pose:

The next target was to enjoy the rays of dusk over Panchchuli peaks...

After a hot cup of tea at the TRH, it was the time to enjoy sunset. Put on some warm clothes and landed at the helipad along with Gangaram. clicked numerous picks of Panchchuli peaks which i could not capture last evening because of no power in my cam.
Then paid my gratitude to Gangaram for being such a companion through out one of the most beautiful days in my life and went back to TRH. Approx 4 members from TRH staff, Manager's friend Mr Anand who himself is Manager of TRH Birthi (a very jolly person) and Mr P Bhatt from UK Tourism gathered for gossips and bonfire. We cracked jokes with every sip of tea. After a round of delicious food at TRH I thanked God to avail me the time and this life on our Green Planet to visit and admire His creations and the dozed off for another canon ball run on the next day.
                Here are the pics:

Clicked this pic at the end of the trek:

A couple at Munsiyari, could not capture it the way I wished because of low light:

The view from my room @ INR 150

sunrays over the peaks, a sight to die for:

The last rays of the day:

Mighty Himalayas standing firm and strong whether it is day or dark:
(Loved the peaks in the backdrop in this shot)

The Canon ball run from Munsiyari to Chandigarh:

                Day 5: Munsiyari-Baijnath-Kausani-Someshwar-Binta-Gagas-Ranikhet-Bhatrojkhan-Dhangarhi-RamNagar-Kashipur-Moradabad (400+ kms.)
(Take a right turn before Bageshwar to reach Baijnath)

I paid INR 460 for 2 nights’ stay + 2 dinners + 1plate of veg pakora and few teas
Had a cup of tea and some masala peanut for the sake of breakfast and then hit the road at 6:45 AM. The ride after Kala Muni top is one of its kind which offers sheer enjoyment and excitement with jaw dropping vertical drop. I am lacking of words to explain the feel of it, but it is a must do for sure. From the previous experiences, I knew that camera will not be able to capture it correctly, hence kept on enjoying the ride rather than worrying about the photographs. My target was to cross Kashipur and then Nazibabad before sunset because these are the two stretches with prominent wildlife and should be avoided for night riding (bikes) as far as possible. So I kept on riding continuously until 12:30 at Baijnath where I stopped for lunch and wrapped up quickly just in 15 mins
Crossed Kashipur at 5:30 PM and the long shadows were indicating end of the day being at the next corner. Trying to negotiate with running time I overlooked the turn to Afzalgarh. By 6:30PM I realized that I am heading towards Moradabad. Now it was time to get some advice, and hence called Tilak sir for suggestion some 15 kms before Moradabad I told him the story and told him to call again when I reach Moradabad, by the time he will be ready with the route info. Few minutes past 7:30, I was standing at Hapur mod wandering which way to go? I had two options: either stay at Moradabad or carry on till Delhi via Hapur and then from Delhi to Chandigarh. Had it not been the famous Hapur road, I could have continued, also Tilak sir advised to have a night halt at Moradabad instead of the crazy ride, I thought to agree with the much experienced traveller.

Now the next target was to get the accommodation at Moradabad. Took the road leading to Moradabad city from the Hapur Mod and reached the railway crossing where people were waiting for it to open. As soon as the train crossed and the gates were open, Since everyone was rushing as if Shah Rukh Khan is waiting at their home, I had no option but to follow the custom. As soon as I throttled in first gear and crossed the railway track… “Thak” I got a hit beneath the bike, wondering what it could be, stopped few meter ahead to realize that it’s the Gear lever which used to be the ‘I’ shaped is now U shaped with open end facing towards my rear wheel. Tried to shift to the next gear but failed. It was 8 PM in winter which means hardly any mechanic will be available even in this madly populated place. But I was not so unlucky, after riding 2-3 kms in first gear, got a car shop, took a long pipe from there and tried to straighten the lever which could only be turned into a ‘Z’ shape with gentle curves but it was working, I was able to shift gears now. Back to the pending task, I found a 6X6 room (as it shoul be called)in front of the railway station for 100 bucks. It was the worst room in worst category but who cares, I had to spent hardly 10 hrs there. Parked my bike at the railway station and had dinner at the adjacent dhaba. It has been a tough day for me, spent all the day in riding with only a 15 mins lunch break, slept at 10:30.

Road Conditions: good to excellent through out the route.

Baijnath to Kausani: Ride through cool breeze in between a super wide valley, could manage 50-60 kmph here.
At Kausani: Ride through Jungles of Chir filled with aroma. good roads with some pathes
At Ranikhet: Small beautiful town with Beautiful people around
Ranikhet to Ramnagar: Excellent roads, black termac, smooth silky curves, full pleasure guaranteed

Few pics that I clicked in the return Journey to follow soon:

                  The room at TRH Munsiyari:

Nanda Devi and Maikatoli peaks(Near Bageshwar):

                  Nanda Kot Peak(Near Bageshwar):

A little closer to Nanda Devi peaks:

Trishul Peaks (center left) and Maikatoli peaks (center right):

                  A Panoramic view from Baijnath:

                  Day6: Moradabad-Dhampur-Najibabad-Haridwar-Roorkie-Saharanpur-Yamuna Nagar-Panchkula (350+ kms)

Woke up at 4 and left Moradabad at 4:45 AM. Crossed Dhampur, then Haridwar and reached Roorkie at 9:20 AM where I stopped at a beautiful road side restaurant. Had a couple of amazing Aloo Paratha and rejuvenating 2 cups of tea before hitting the road again.

                  Beautiful roses at the restaurant:
                  Yes its real

I had to solve the traffic resembling like a Jigsaw Puzzle on the roads of Saharanpur and then A wrong turn in Yamuna Nagar charged me good 45 minutes
Still managed to maintain an average speed of 70 and reached my room at Panchkula at 1:30 PM. I had plenty of time to attend the office, but I was not in mood of spoil the happy time so soon, hence skipped the office and rested in content

Summing it up: It was one kind of ride that I was longing for after Gangotri-Badrinath ride. Though I had many 2-3 days' rides but none of them was as fabulous as this one. It was the first time I visited Kumaon hills and I am so much impressed with the view of Himalays. In garhwal, most of the times I rode beside one river or the other with intermittent view of snow peaks, but in Kumaon those gorgeous peaks were with me almost all the time. Today when I am concluding this write up after so many days, I am again longing for those views and ride. But I know it will not be soon. This time, I have to wait longer...

                  Thanks for Reading.

                  Regards,
                  Ranjeet
