  • Panjim - Kota. need help

    hi folks,

I am planning a trip from Goa to Kota (my hometown) around 18th of February.

I want to take the following route:
    1. Panjim - Pune NH4
    2. Pune - Mumbai NH4
    3. Mumbai - Udaipur NH8
    4. Udaipur - Kota State and National highways

can anybody please tell me about the condition of these roads and are they suitable for night travel?

also please suggest places where can I stay on these routes in around 1000rs a night.....

I will be riding an FZ-16, so what are the spares which i should have for the journey.
    Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009
    Optimus: Red Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD 2013
Atom: Red Tata Nano XTA 2016
    Pumba: Red Harley Street 750

The road is damn awesome...be it NH8 or the NH4. NH8 can get nasty just at the Mumbai Border.

Now, I would say, do not take a chance and ride at night. Rajasthan as vast open stretch of Sand that can throw a chill down your spine. Although Feb does not bring along fog, however, the weather this year has been uncertain.

      Mumbai-Udaipur can be done in around 10 hours...around 750km.

And From Udaipur, take the beautiful combo of NH79 & NH76, from there you can take a right (while coming from Udaipur) and reach Kota

It is almost impossible, I have gone to Goa 4 times by road, twice by bike and twice by car, barring once when I did not stop at all, it never took me less than 11 hours. Surat is another 250 odd kms from Mumbai. I think you can reach mumbai on day 1 and aim for Udaipur Day 2

Which road you took at that time? If you took NH-17 then its obvious that you would take this much time as it is a 2 lane road with oncoming traffic. Whereas NH-4 is an awesome road with 4 lanes (sometimes 6). You can continuosly drive at around 80-90 KMPH on this road without any difficulty.

I think if you leave early from Goa you can make up till Surat. But that will be hell of a ride. Dont carry much luggage on your shoulders.

Well, the road after Vapi is butter smooth till Vadodra. Vadodra-A'bad is single lane...after that, you its a dream ride on the swift NH8 again coupled with swifter NH79

If you are thinking of night driving on NH-17 then forget about it. That road is too dangerous for 2 wheelers during night. Trucks especially the ones which carry sand drive insanely on that road. And let me tell you that there are lot of them.

As comapred to NH17, NH4 is far more better for night drive. If I was driving during night or day I would anyday choose NH4 over NH17.

hey dude, it seems college over and riding starts.

Frankly dont take red bull instead carry coffee in some warm container if you can and sip it little every time you halt, or you can have coffee or tea in dhabas.
