Hero Honda and Videocon presents Raid Tamilnadu 2011

15 cbz extremes and one hell of a ride across entire tamil nadu. event was sponsored by HH cbz extreme, videocon mobiles and tn tourism in association with a upcoming biker forum named yourbhp.com. The entire team including event managers, riders, stunters were from tamil nadu and I was the lone guy to be selected from Hydeabad, AP. Event kicked off on Jan 10 from Marina beach at Chennai and sorry to say it was the most horrible ride i was ever part of.

Yourbhp.com was handling the entire arrangements and were our sole point of contact and heads during the ride as they were riding with us. Riders with no driving license were allowed to be a part of the ride. People were allowed to ride with no helmets at times and worst, a lot of them even rode around kodaikkanal with alcohol bootles and gettng drunk. Most of the rideres were treated real bad in terms of language, food supply and even bending the rules when it came to the heads of the event.

There was nobody to complain to or raise a voice as even the incharge of the entire event at times had no lid, and rode at times under alcohol influence. The ride was suppossed to be aimed at "ride safe " concept and to my utter disbelief all the basic rules were broken during this ten day event. The event was organised by a event management firm named Impact & red chillys based out of Chennai.

A lot of places were covered during the event like Chennai-pondicherry-cuddalore-chidambaram-kumbakonam-tanjaore-trichy-pudukotai-tutucorin-nagercoil-kanyakumari-tirunalveli-madurai-kodaikkanal-erode-coimbatore-salem. We were riding to new towns every day, visiting Hero Honda outlets and doing city rides and few places stunt shows were performed by stunters.

Stunt bikes had no headlights but were forced to ride along even during night times to meet deadlines. More often or not breakfast were served around noon and lunch around late evening. Almost half the gang would get drunk in the hotel rooms (Stay courtesy by Tamilnadu Tourism) and hardly anyone would be upon time to start the new day at the decided time. Apart from a handful of riders, everything was a goner in teh entire trip. Worst case scenario, there were 3 accidents with in one day and two more during other days. On being questioned and raising concern with the mangaemnt and incharges I happenned to be left as a loner and became a not so called team player in their eyes. After the first accident, the backup vehiccle driving along let the shocker of life stating there was not even First aid.

A ride that was organied with not even the minimum concern for riders or anybody involved. I somehow manged to hold on till the last day and back in Hyd now. Utterly disappointed with the entire trip. Hope some one from Hero Honda or Videocon mobile is listening and going forward will work with bettr event mangaement firms especially when the event itself is sponsored by such huge corporate firms. Overall a good lesson learnt.

It is jokes and jokers like these who will bring a bad name to motorcycling in this country. yourBhp, funny, people have a sudden penchant for appending Bhps to their url (this is annoying since people inevitably relate this to xBhp which has been already there for quite a while). Especially, annoying and disgusting when they dont even a working website. God save the motorcycling fraternity of India from such scams.

I still remember for the last TSG2G, how Kirosh was checking everyone's bike's docos thoroughly & repeated several times on wearing proper gears.

@MadMax - What you've experienced is really worst I'd say & to bring another bad name to the entire motorcycling community in India. What difference could this bring to the regular commuters, that too in the name of safety

With Honda parting ways to Hero group, is this the way Hero group should publicize themselves?

Exactly bud, it was utter shame to motorcyclists and entire biking fraternity. I had the worst possible time and was a living hell. Everyday there was some or other issue, and on questioning them, they would just turn a blind eye. phewwwww

But I am not sure how Videocon mobiles was associated with this. Unbelievable. Might be just a regional or city level effort from them.

@ Madmax :- Buddy I was also supposed to join for this ride. I thought it would be fun to ride new places and thought it to be like the Mahindra ride. But I missed it due to my job responsibilities. After seeing the pics in Facebook seemed like it was a pure stunt show rather than a ride.
The organiser had promised that all the riding gears along with helmet and all would be provided. Reading your story I just have to say one thing.

Thank god I did not participate.

I was aware of this trip & my friend Chithra also participated. Even heard that you had to pay certain thousands for being a part of it. Was getting updates about how worse this was turning. With stunting on the roads, rash riding, 0 management, etc..!!!
Even urvashi (Pune xBHP) was called for this ride, but she straight away denied as was aware of the mishaps that was on the way.
Pix on FB where seriously utter disappointment on promoting motorcycling in India. After Knowing this, i feel glad I was a part of the one of the most professionally organized Mahindra's Ride.

Sorry for you MadMax.. but a great lesson learnt indeed

This was the FB msg from Chithra on her last day :
One trip i'm glad its getting over today. Cant take anymore of this nonsense. Have not had dinner for the past 3 nights. Very bad organizing. This trip is more of the father trying to promote his son. Waiting to get back home.

Like Xstunter said even I was supposed to join for this trip and since this was postponed from it original date to January i could not make it.

We had to pay Rs.5000 for this trip and organizer promised to return the money as we were not going to come after the dates shuffled but did not return it till date even though i followed up many times.
Everyday he used to give me excuses and now i have lost hope and I am also glad after listening to the pleed of Madmax46 that this trip was not worth at all.

I urge everyone who loves to tour and loves biking brotherhood that not to spend money on such things. This was my first experience and I will never again fall for something like this.

As i said earlier, we were ridin gto new places everyday and most places we did stunts too. There were no riding gears given nor any helmets. I carried my own riding gears and lid and most of the riders didnt even had no proper gears.

Sorry to hear about the money bit buddy. Take their case. They are pretty much active on fb...post it on their wall etc. I havent paid a single penny to get an entry into the ride and to my knowledge none of the riders did. apart from maybe one or two. initially there were 21 bikes scheduled but lack of riders reduced it to 15.....and even to fill that up people without even driving licenses and who have never ridden o na highway were roped in. Dont let go off the money man. PM me if you need any help with contacting them.
