Not sure how it looks, may be some pics will help. But most places Salwar's/Churidhar's are allowed with Dhupatta. Let me confirm with my Wife if she experienced any issues with Guruvayoor. If there has to be any trouble with dress code & temple, then it WILL be Guruvayoor for sure lol. If you can make your stamp at Guruvayoor successfully, then you can do it at all other places.

Not sure how it looks, but a Salwar/Churidhar is permitted in the recent times at Guruvayoor. Do not carry camera, mobile, electronic goods. I'd say, the maximum permitted things are watch, glasses, wallet, ornaments (other than clothes ofcourse ). Just don't carry anything more than that. But even then no issues, Guruvayoor has a cloak room with token system to store your things.

No; not for ladies. But you will have to wear only white dhothi/veshti or else you can choose to wear Safron color khadhar dhothi "Kaavi Mundu"

BTW, what are the dates you've planned? There's an ISG2G at Munnar happening during March 12/13 weekend & there're quite few chances that you could meet xBhpians or miss out them (esp from Trivandrum & Kochi) or good chances that you ppl are in Munnar to meet the entire south gang

Can't believe I oversaw the above post! I am coming on 14th March 2011.

Aargee, I was wondering if I could drop Thrissur and surrounding for Kodaikanal. Can you and others please comment on following itinerary:

3/14/2011 Ernakulam – Vembanattu Kayal and backwaters - Alapuzha

            3/16/2011 Kanyakumari - Trivendrum - Veli - Shangumugham beach
            3/17/2011 Pazhavangadi Ganapathy - Padmabhaswamy temple - Varkala - Trivendrum - Kumarakom

            3/28/2011 Ernakulam sight seeing
3/29/2011 Catch morning train to Pune

In this itinerary, I am getting total 6 days of hill stations, with 3 spots & 1 full day each to every spot. I feel above itinerary is good. Please give your expert opinion.

            EDIT:

            1. I see you already gave me this option at http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/1...tml#post570210 Sorry for being a jumping jack

            2. I am reading on some tourist sites that Athirapalli falls are best visited in Jun - Oct, and aren't much of a spectacle rest of the time. Even the Nelliampathi thread mentions he went in rains. Will it do me any good if I skip that area and add one more day each to two of the three to the hill stations: Thekkady - Munnar - Kodaikanal? So my itinerary will look like:

            Date
3/12/2011 Catch night train to ERS
            3/13/2011 Train journey
3/14/2011 Ernakulam – Vembanattu Kayal and backwaters - Alapuzha
            3/15/2011 Alapuzha - Kollam - Kanyakumari
            3/16/2011 Kanyakumari - Trivendrum - Veli - Shangumugham beach
            3/17/2011 Pazhavangadi Ganapathy - Padmabhaswamy temple - Varkala - Trivendrum - Kumarakom
            3/18/2011 Kumarakom house boat
            3/19/2011 Kumarakom - Vagamon - Thekkady
            3/20/2011 Thekkady Sight seeing
            3/21/2011 Thekkady - Kodaikanal
            3/22/2011 Kodaikanal Sight seeing
            3/23/2011 Kodaikanal Sight seeing
            3/24/2011 Kodaikanal - Munnar
            3/25/2011 Munnar Sight seeing
            3/26/2011 Munnar Sight seeing
            3/27/2011 Munnar - Thodupuzha - Emmanuvel silks - Muvattupuzha - Ernakulam
            3/28/2011 Ernakulam sight seeing
3/29/2011 Catch morning train to Pune

Please give direct answers, not political ones. If you hate it, bash it!

Ping us in the trivandrum thread before you come here for any help in trivandrum and surrounding places. in ekm itself, you have places to see for a day like bolgatti palace, etc.
second day , are you just riding all the way from alapuzha to cape? while coming down, you can check out ashtamudi lake at kollam . In trivandrum, prepone the padmanabha swami temple on 16th evening, and make a small plan to ponmudi hill station (60kms from the city) or aazhimala/kovalam beach (25kms frm city), after visiting pazhavangadi ganpathy temple early morning. If you have time, spare some for visiting the museum too for an hour. There are a few very beautiful places near varkala like edava, paravoor, golden isle, which is best during mornings or evenings. from there, u can head to kumarakom straight.
most hill stations, falls , etc in kerala are best in monsoons only, you may be lucky coz you cant predict rains here. even if it rains for a night, it ll transform the looks of the hill stations.

I am back Great trip. Clocked total 1800 kms in about 2000rs worth of petrol. Touring on NH is very cumbersome, but the inner MC road is beautiful. Will be back with pics and triplog.
