  • Help re: tour from Chennai-Vadodara

    HI,
I'm planning to go to Vadodara(as I'm moving to Vadodara) this weekend with one of my friend in RE TBTS. I have searched the forum and got lots of topics where people have traveled from Bangalore to Mumbai , So I plan the same NH route from

Chennai to B`lore to tumkur -pune -mumbai -surat -vadodara.

This will be first time we will be travelling such a long distance on bike. I have been traveled for around 900 kms in past but not double of this.

Now I need help in terms of
    a. Best Route to take .
    b. Time with cost .(I intend to travel on 5th morning to b`lore and Should reach to baroda on 7th at any cost.)

    c.Things to carry while travelling.
    d. Suggestions on pit stops etc.

But remember, you cannot take Pune-Mumbai express highway as motorcycles are not allowed.

IMO, its possible as the road conditions are excellent. You can do Chennai - Pune or ideal would be Chennai - Solapur on 5th & the remaining distance Pune - Vadodara or Solapur - Vadodara on the next day. So you can see the sunrise on 7th at Vadodara.

Cost is something that you should be able to work out as we don't know your FE or what you'll consume en route . You need to calculate like, its about 1600+ odd Kms, so if your RE gives an FE of 35 Kmpl, then it should be roughly 45-50 lts of petrol. Add to that the cost of 3 meals for 2 days. Add to cigarette if you're a smoker & other snacks per desire. If this is not what you intended, pls elaborate.

Err...basic tools, puncture kit, clothes to change. But are there anything apart from this? I'm not sure

Take a break whenever its necessary as there's no thumb rule where one needs to stop. Always start as early as possible & cover as much distance as possible in the broad sunlight & avoid riding in night.

        a) Chennai- B'lore- Pune - Thane - Surat- Vadodra

        Day 1: Chennai - Kolhapur
        Day2 : Kolhapur - Pune - Thane - Surat - Vadodra(do not enter pune- mumbai expressway,stick to NH4)

        b) if you start early morning both these days can be covered under the sun.
Be prepared for some bone chilling winds in the morning and late evenings.

        c) water and some snacks, nothing for the bike help is available on these highways in plenty, still if you want you can carry lubes, engine oil etc

        Hope this helps.

@aargee: You meant Kolhapur and not Solapur.Rt?

Considering that you've done 900km in a day...I would say, enjoy the ride between Chennai-Bangalore as its a beautiful route with hell lot of opportunities for soaking up the natural beauty. Bangalore-Mumbai can be done in one day (I did it in 13 hours). then Mumbai-Vadodra is just a short ride. Or if you want to stress, you can do this ride in two days

Apologies; I just overlooked things & the route I mentioned is not right. Tks for correction.

@Surya - You need to follow what tourer_kashif said. Just tag along with NH4 all way upto Mumbai & then jump to NH8. All the roads are in excellent condition & the only limitations are the rider & the ride
