  • Tour to Banaras from Mumbai

    Hi all,

I am planning to go Banaras this Diwali with my Bajaj Pulsar 150DTSi model 2006. What things I need to take care along my journey. Please any one can give road map if you have traveled the journey.

I did not go exactly till Varanasi.. But I did stat from Pune and end up 200km from Varanasi in mid Feb.. So its just 200km either way. The route I took will be barely 110km longer than the 'shortest' one but it is not necessary that the 'shortest' route will be the best one for sure. Google will give you 3 routes.. but I would suggest you this one:

Mumbai, Maharashtra, India to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India - Google Maps

The road conditions on this stretch is very much doable. But the only thing you need to be careful about is not traveling through MP after dark. Do it only if it is absolutely unavoidable. The only 2-lane stretches you will encounter is 100km ahead of Dhule and 330km ahead of Dewas. So, a total of 450odd km of 2-lane in a total of 1600km you will cover in total. Rest of the route is mostly 4-laned. Easily doable. Best of luck for your ride.

But.. Since I assume you are going Home for diwali.. I would also suggest you to take a train / flight back home. Much safer / cheaper / faster option.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
