We came out at a village named Kakreji.Last view of Little Rann

We moved towards Dhrangadhra, then Surendra Nagar and made it to Nal Sarovar by 05 PM.We quickly parked our bike and went to check out the rates for boat ride. The lake seemed beautiful from a distance, and too my surprise there were lot many birds around.

The place was quite empty,no tourist crowd at all.I can only see the 20-30 boat owners waiting for customers.Just when we went to them to get the price details.Everyone around surrounded us and started pulling us to board into their boat. Some said 2000...some said 100.Such difference 'Kuch to Jhol He'.Everyone was shouting around,it was total chaos. As Ankit was asking me 'Biru,What to do..which boat to board'...everyone other boat owner started calling me 'Bidu/Biru hamari boat me aao, full ghumaynege'.

We finally settled on a boat for 200 for one hour, fair enough. But few mins after the boat started from the dock. The boat rower started to show his true colors
He started telling us.The 200 rs ride only cover few parts of the Sanctuary, where there are very less birds. If you give me 1500 Rs i will show you the part of Sanctuary where most of the birds resides. What !!..This ain't fair. While he was telling all this bullshit,Ankit was after flamingos .Rower said,it Flamingo ride will still cost you 1000 rs.Grrr,We bargained...bargained and bargained. Finally we all agreed in 200 Rs.

The so called guide cum boat Rower told us that there are about 300 species of birds in here. The lake is of 182 sq km with 360 islands (WTF !!) to see the pelicans, flemingos, various species of ducks, white cranes, herons, evomets, long-beaked curlews and other birds. At the evening time, it was a great pleasure watching those birds from boats. No Wonder Nal Sarovar Sanctuary is one of the most Eminent sanctuaries in India.

      MORE BIRDS..TO BE CONTD !!!

      Cheers

beruoist would love you to finish your log as am eager to hear about the birds that you saw and the if you saw any flamingos or no.

As for the Boat walas at Nal Sarovar this is the way they are, all of them, we need to be very specific before we board. On Sunday we were 4 Riders all xBHPians from Ahmedabad, we were offered 300 for 1 hour and in the end they were even willing to take us on a 2 hour trip for a mere Rs. 150 with all 4 of us.

In future if you are passing by Ahmedabad, Ankleshwar, Rajkot, Patan or Surat do let us know we have active members in these cities who can hel assist.

Its great to see fellow bikers from Ahmedabad.Well we saw a hell lot of birds, including flamingoes. But cant remember their name.I wasn't listening to the guide at all,i was busy enjoying the serenity of the Place.

Will surely ping you if i come in that direction.

              More Birds

He flew out of the frame, and little bit out of focus

There were plenty of these..But look at the color of legs and beak

              A different and rare species

              Flight taking Off

              A Couple

              Maajhi

              And Flamingoes..running away from us

Neatest and closest shot of the whole trip :P

And after all these clicks my Camera Battery died .Sunset was on his way,I was very disappointed as i will not be able to capture it.Just when the Sun was about to go down, the sky got completely filled up with the birds

We captured few shots of Sunset from Ankit's Cellphone, which came out quite well.

It was dark and the route ahead was unknown, and our bad luck..it was a state highway. We followed the route from Nal Sarovar to Bagodra...From Bagodra to Tarapur..Borsad and we came out few Kms before Vadodara on the Ahmedabad to Vadodara Old highway.Road was single lane all the way...with plenty of bad patches.

Our plan was to do a non stop overnight ride and reach back to Pune by Monday morning. But Monday was a Holiday anyway,So we stopped at Daman for some fun

Enjoying at the Shacks in DAMAN

We reached back to Pune on Monday midnight. One hell of a ride it was.
And the last pic of the custom made superbike, which is used mostly in Gujarat and Rajasthan

              Cheers
