  • [Photo Feature]: Angelic Sea Ride (Day-01)

    Date: 26-May-2011 t0 29-May-2011
Venue: Sea Coast of Mandarmani-Digha-Udaipur 200 Kms from Kolkata
    Bike: White ZMR
    Riders: Myself & Wife
Distance Covered: 525 Kms to & fro in FOUR days.

    Day-I (26-May-2011,Thursday)

Started around 05:40 AM with lots of enthusiasm , caution & optimism .
First long ride in my life,
    That too with my wife...

First one hour was uneventful covering around 75 kms till Kolaghat.
Wide Xpressway Roads with few trucks and tankers. Cautiously negotiated and overtook them.
Touched THREE digit figures for a considerable time.
After a relaxed breakfast started for the rest of the journey around 08:00 AM.

The next one hour ride covering 40 kms left me exhausted with heavy traffic due to road construction, diversion and congestion.
Forced to take a Tea break and tried to relax myself. Suddenly felt little nervous.
My Wife inspired me and cooled down myself.
Luckily one of my ex-colleague joined me for the next one hour ride in his CBZ Xtreme.
He was on his way to some office work on that stretch. He also informed me that
there was a glint of hope that roads are going to be pretty decent after some time.

Overataking State Transport Buses on these narrow roads are a big pain and following them either is no gain.
After my colleague moved his own way from an intersection I was riding with renewed energy.
Suddenly at a point a bus stopped on his left and I was travelling behind it only to overtake it.
But a speeding ambassador from the opposite side zoomed in suddenly from the front of the bus.
Somehow I managed to veer left and saluted the Almighty.
My first brush with some high voltage riding experience.

Ultimately reached the destination around 11:00 AM and after lot of searching found a decent Resort to stay.
Spent the rest of the day with resting and strolling on the beach.

        Angelic Sea Ride (Day-02)

        Day-II (27-May-2011,Friday)

Morning started with some early sunrise and a morning ride on the beach.
        Refreshingly cool and energising.

Started around 09:00 AM from Mandarmani towards Digha. It was tough riding on the sandy mud ladden beaches with a pillion.
Somehow ZMR with Michelin managed this ease and comfort.
Enroute to Digha as I was overtaking a stationary Bus it suddenly started moving and slowly veered towards right pouncing upon us.
Honking shouting and breaking saved us but made us more resolute & steady.

We entered the Orissa border and paid a visit to the Chandaneswar Shiva Temple.
While returning we spent around three four hours on the sea beach enjoying the fun and frolic.

This was a very memorable moment since my Wife has driving the Bike in the beach and myself was sitting pillion.

Though her last ride was Bajaj M-80 & now ZMR, what a move??

With an eventful day ending on a high note with some sea side afternoon siesta.

              Nice trip log there.
So you had an awesome trip there buddy.. btw saw your jacket in the pics and trust me it fits well. I even read your mail regarding the fish bite you had. Man that is one ugly fish i must say. Btw how did you ride back home with all the dressing and luggage. Did you take any special medications (it will be great if you upload the pics and some detailed data on how to tackle such situations)
Keep the pics and data coming buddy....
Once again it felt good after reading your trip log!!

She might be getting a Yamaha R-15 soon if Ladakh Leh is next year.
Only problem was height of ZMR. Even tried Xtreme on sea beach.
But the smooth gear of ZMR has enamoured her more.

                    Angelic Sea Ride (Day-03)

                    Day-III (28-May-2011,Saturday)

Started a lazy morning with some sea side riding and a breakfast @ the other end of the coast.

Decided to hit the water early to avoid the burning sun.
Now comes the thrilling part of this tour.
Suddenly I was stung by a Ray Fish on right leg in knee deep water. Blood started oozing out and pained like hell, luckily not toxic hence not venomous and life threatening.
But for a few moment I was nauseating and vision was blurring out. Ultimately landed on sea shore.

My Wife rushed out for external help and some one was quick to pick me up on a bike and head to my Resort.
Since it was just opposite to the place where we were chilling ourselves.
Happened around 10:00 AM and local medicine were the only quick options.

The worst part was this place was far off from any populated area.
Medicine shop was also 18 km far off. Managed a TAXI for Rs 600/- to reach there around 2:00 PM
Being a Saturday it is heavily crowded since most people spend weekends here.
Finding a Taxi was also incredibly difficult but my brave WIFE still managed it.

Trust me guys even to my worst off enemies I will not curse to be stung by this Ray fish.
Almost had a black out but still managed my nerves to be alert.

Ultimately with some anti-tetanus injection & medicine pain relieved around evening.
                    But there was a swelling.
34567 kms and ZMR sold :(

Really scary about the Ray fish incident and glad all ended well.

                          Aniruddha,

Yes spot on Buddy. Fortunately I was lucky.
But this was one with less TOXIC effect and less VENOMOUS !!!

See the TAIL effect. It pains like shit
                          Still recuperating with medicines!!!

Following are the ones of the same variety that did me the damage.

Pray to GOD that even my worst off enemy is not STUNG by these species.

                              Angelic Sea Ride (Day-04)

                              Day-IV (29-May-2011,Sunday)

Woke up in the morning and felt that I would be able to ride back home. May be a determination.
Started around 09:30 AM and met a Biker group on our exit from the Beach.

Some known faces were there, had a chat and moved on for my return journey.

Not much eventful only a Luxury Bus while overtaking from opposite end pushed me out from the Road.
Lucky I was mentally alert and veered to left only mud splashing my bike on left.

Had a Lunch @ the same place in Kolaghat and reached home around 02:30 PM.
After one hour rest headed to my Doctors friend place.
34567 kms and ZMR sold :(
