Thanks. I am glad you enjoyed it. The CBR review seemed to be a little too blunt for some CBR ownersOriginally posted by Vicky View PostGreat Trip log and excellent personal review of the CBR250.
I agree with most of the points you've made... specially that of the riding posture and resultant pain on the wrist. I'm 5' 6" and this issue is more prominent for me..
I've thought about that and then gave up the idea as there is only about half an inch of clearance between the brake reservoir and the fairing with the handles in the full lock position to the left... any increase in height of the handlebars would need a modification to the windshield too..
Also, noticing how tightly all the throttle cables and brake cables are routed, I doubt the stock cables would allow an extension of 2 inches

20 hours to cover around 900km's!!!!
are you serious??
i dont think i can stay on the saddle that long. i may have to change the trip plans and may be make it a 2 day ride....Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! I would advise that very strongly indeed. Stay in Surat, a very nice motel just off the highway, Rs 650 for a night and get on to the road the next morning, refreshed to attend the wedding, what? But then, my advice is likely to be coloured by the fact that I am 42 years old and the father of one 13 year old boy and one 8 year old girl. Ipso facto, safety comes first for me. would that be possible??Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! What a Ride!' -Hunter S. Thompson

So what if it took me freaking 4 hours on the Ninja 650 to reach office today courtesy some nakabandi! Mumbai doesnt have a traffic problem. Mumbai IS a traffic problem!
Couldn't agree more. And the pathetic roads don't help the cause either
Signals which are timed for 50 Kmph are also timed for 100 Kmph :)

That works out to an avg speed of about 65 kmph. It is a little too optimistic. If you are able to do 100-120 on some stretches, for extended periods than it just may be possible in 18 hrs. But the moment you turn off at Baroda, your avg speed is going to drop to about 40 kmph or so, the road is just too narrow and crowded to rip there.Originally posted by revvhard View Posti was hoping to cover the entire 900km's in 14hours,

I think you should schedule about 18 hrs.
Yesterday, I had gone to Baroda. Via the Ahd-Brda expressway, it took me 5 hours from Rkt to Brda. And I was doing 100-110 most of the time in a car. It will take at least 3 hrs more via Tarapur on a bike. So there you have it - 9 hrs from Pune to Surat and another 8-9 hrs from Surat to Rajkot. If you start at 4 AM, and take small breaks en-route, you should be in Rkt at about 1030 PM or so.
It is doable, revvhard, just hang in the saddle. Does not matter if you reach a little late, bur reach safe, ok

will try to go as far as i can without being too hard on myself, if i feel like i need a break then i'l just take a rest stop for maybe 5-6hours at any small inn on the way.
the main reason i want the ride to be completed faster is because i completely hate riding at night.
was thinking of going via ahmedabad. had taken that route earlier in the car and te roads were just amazing, while it might add a few km's to the total but with the amazing road conditions i would b able to make up for a lot of lost time, how does that sound??Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, 'Wow! You won't be able to go to Ahd on the expressway on a bike as two and three wheelers are not allowed on it. If you ride on the old Baroda-Ahd highway right till Ahd, it is a waste of time. Do check the Google map directionsOriginally posted by revvhard View Postwas thinking of going via ahmedabad. had taken that route earlier in the car and te roads were just amazing, while it might add a few km's to the total but with the amazing road conditions i would b able to make up for a lot of lost time, how does that sound??
Best option? Rip like anything right from Fountain Hotel till the Baroda turnoff. Then is the slow stage between the turn and Bagodra crossing. Again, you can rip from Bagodra till Rajkot on NH8A.

Sorry about the photos of the Pune to Rajkot trip. I have two still cameras, both of the vintage when digital photography was in its infancy. They guzzle batteries faster than I guzzle beer. Also, during this trip, I was taking things easy on the bike and myself so was riding a bit slowly. That took up time and did not leave me much on hand to take snaps of sights on the way.
I plan to get a new camera for the Leh trip and will post pics of it once I get back.
Regards
