Just trying to follow your footsteps bro. The itch to ride was there for a long time and it's still not satiated, I hope it never does.Originally posted by Abhishek2433 View PostGood to see you could do a ride finally. I'm real happy to see the log shaping up well. I had heard from occasional meetings that this itch was long & good to see it got quenched finally.

Day1 continues...
We had reached lansdowne by 3:30, had loads of fun leaning in the roads leading to lansdowne. We did not stop riding hard even after reaching the military premises and 2 military men stopped us to tell us not to ride so fast. We apologized and continued.
Some pics before reaching lansdowne:

Oh and we saw training exercises being done there, it was a childhood dream of mine to be a part of armed forces which never became reality. It was nice to see them train.
By 3:45 we were standing the the main market in Lansdowne.Had lunch in Hotel Mayur and decided to stay there itself for the night.
We tried looking for a room but Hotel Mayur, as last time was not available. We tried zaika and our last resort- the dharamshala but that too did not have any rooms available due to a local wedding.
Fortunately we got a room at laxmi hotel, which was a bit expensive for the state of the room but we had to stay the night and there were no other options so we took it. Threw our bags on the beds and rolled out to see lansdowne.
Last time I was here, I did not see anything, just came to lansdowne, stayed the night and headed back home in the morning. That was so not gonna happen twice, I and Deep went to see the Museum but it was already closed for the day. We then headed to Bhulla Lake and spent a lot of time there. The artificial lake in itself isn't extremely fantastic to look at but the area around it is great for taking an evening walk.
I soo wished I had someone with me that time, called her and she didn't pick up.
Some pics from the walk-around session:

Came back and over-tightened Deep's bike's chain. Went to have dinner at Mayur hotel where we over-heard another couple on the same route, later on we shall pass them a couple of times.
Came back to our room and went to sleep. Day1 came to an end.Last edited by Parth; 06-22-2011, 10:50 AM.

Uh so pics were showing some error while being uploaded as attachments on xbhp so I uploaded them on picasa. But then picasa resized them into 640x480
Will reupload them elsewhere so as to preserve the original 1024x768 sizing

DAY2
It was 6 in the morning when I opened my eyes; a cool breeze was flowing outside reminding me that I was still in Lansdowne. I had just been dreaming that I was in my own bed back home; this homesickness will only increase in the days to come.
Deep was still sleeping and I thought it was best to let him be. I opened up the novel I had brought along- A walk to remember by Nicholas Sparks,I had enjoyed the movie so much that I had been searching for the novel for a long time and as luck would have it, I finally got it 3 days before I left. I have always seen that movie adaptations of novels were nowhere close to being as good as the novels (The lord of the rings remains the only exception to this) so I was kinda excited to read the novel. Hence I started reading. After 30 minutes of reading and admiring the level of detail in which each scene was described, Deep woke up and that was the end of reading for the day.
Some pics:
After that we were heading back to our room and I saw a couple of drops of coolant under Helen, so I decided to take a look at what the problem is. 30 minutes and uncountable stares from onlookers later I figured out that the coolant reservoir cap was loose and it just needed to be pushed back in. Did the small job and saw Helen had a puncture in the rear tire, went to the room and took out the repair kit and did that as well. Then we went to buy a raincoat for deep just in case, searched but did not find one so we left for pauri without any rain protection. Oh and one shop keeper was kind enough to give me a polybag to cover my bag with in case it rains.
IT was 10:00 when we left lansdowne, next stop Pauri!
Some pics:
A pic from the crash, you can see where the front and rear tire went off the road if you look minutely enough:

A butt break enroute Pauri:
Now from Pauri there are two routes to Tehri, one via Srinagar and one via Devprayag. The Srinagar route has better roads but the devprayag route has a river flowing right besides the road. So I took a decision to take the devprayag route and boy was I bang on target. We experienced good roads, bad roads and no roads at all, but the important thing was it was all along a scenic route. We stopped before Gja at a small shop looking for some cold drinks, where we discussed about national politics with the owner. Soon we were on our way to Tehri.
Some pics along the way:
Soon The sun was down and then Tehri came. We had reached it in the nick of time as it was 7:30 and the sun had bid stood for a second at the bus stand chowk there and 2 guys on a red P135 came and stopped besides us, apparently they had witnessed some of our crazy riding and were impressed. I sensed an opportunity and asked them for suggestion for a hotel with a cheap room. They directed us to the perfect place, nice rooms and sooper cheap. We took the keys, dumped our luggage, changed our clothes and went out for dinner.
A pic of the room:
It was now 9 and the market was mostly closed apart from some eateries. We chose one and had desi dinner.
Came back to our room and saw a little TV and went to sleep.Last edited by Parth; 06-22-2011, 05:27 PM.

Its being two weeks now off from the Trip.. still I'd like to be on trip with my Black Horse and with Partha n his Helen. It was such a nice experience n memory which I will not forget throughout my lifetime.
IF EVERYTHING STAYS GOOD, NICE TRIPS ARE COMING IN FUTURE
