    Italian Road Trip.

The germ for this was sowed when our last dream came true. Some time after we met rossi, last year in Jan, in delhi it was bounced that we should go to europe to see a gp race.

Much time passed and then Rossi switched from Yamaha to Ducati.

Now we wanted to see The Italian on The Italian in Italy.

Then came the news that next year there will be moto gp in India.

And that meant like tasting kakori kebab for the first time in Finland or some such crappy metaphor.

Which meant we MUST go to Italy.

So here we are. Three childhood friends who might be poles apart when it comes to tshirt sizes and hair styles but like siamese twins are joined by their love for biking, on to their dream trip to watch the races.

Did i say races. Yes sir. Both Assen and Mugello. With a bit of Euro rail trip from Amsterdam to Milan thrown in.

And to top the awesomeness that is this cake we have also hired a Ducati 695 and a BMW F800R for 4 days to indulge in some fetish of the Italian Alps kind.

I will try and keep updating this as and when, if not i will come back and write a detailed travelogue.

There will be photos, videos from helmet mounted cams and normal handy cams of the action from the gp, riviera and the alps. We will try and keep our drooling and doped out faces out of the frames but don't count on that.

Count on 3 kids from a village living their dreams instead.

    Cheers.

Wow. There will be lots of people tuned into this thread once the logs/pics/vids come in. Anyway, I am sure you guys have done your homework and all the best for a wonderful trip. Also do have a peep into this thread just in case

BTW, for the dolomites, I recommend you stay for the night in Arabba and you can do atleast 5-6 different passes in the dolomites and all of them are absolute biking Nirvana.

Hey haroon, nice hearing from you. I won't lie your trip log was the polio drops that we needed to stand and do this. Many a thanks.

We have got the IDL, rented the bikes from admotours. The route bit is undecided actually. Because liek a young bunch of kids we want to do everything. But stelvio is a must as of now. The guy there says they will help us with the route planning. We will anyways buy road maps once we reach there.

B&B is what we are planning too. We have got Youth hostel cards also, everywhere else apart from amsterdam (for the assen gp) we are staying in youth hostels.

I am excited and a bit tense. But am going with two of my best buds so am sure we are going to have fun.

We are also going to visit Ferrari museum, Monaco and Imola race track. Overall we are there in Italy from the 30th to the 8th. So we will cover as much as we can.

Any other tips will be welcome.

Hope this trip will be as pornographic as am thinking it to be.

thanks a lot again mate for the write up.

Thanks forty6 and I am really happy you guys are pursuing your dream.

Just a few small tips for Italy. In most of the Alpine villages & town, its generally very safe and no problems, but in big cities be very very careful with all your valuables. Dont leave your tank bag/saddlebags etc on the bike unattended even for a few minutes. Same with your purse, passports etc.

Another funny thing is Italians in general are very relaxed & lazy people, until they get behind the wheels of a car or on a bike- then its like they are on steroids!! I mean they drive aggressively, but I cant say 'erratically'. So generally keep a look out from side roads, rear view mirror etc.

Try and avoid the autostradas as much as possible (unless you are short on time). They are boring. The true beauty of the Alps & europe are in the secondary roads which have very little traffic, but breathtaking scenery.

Ok hold on to your horses, ponies, donkies, cutlery or whatever catches your fancy. Am in the train from assen going back to amsterdam. After watching my first race. And trust me when i say this. Nothing. No matter how many races you have watched prepares you for the love that a motogp bike produces with its free flow exhaust. It is just immoral. It is so erotic it is the work of the devil. If you love bikes this must be done.
And the atmosphere. One lakh bike lovers. Half of them wearing your favourite number in yellow. More than half actually.
                    this is pure bliss.
this is, inever thought i would say this, better than meeting chitrangadha singh.
Going according to the plan this is.
Suff with which boobs are made of.
ohh btw i saw mv augusta, ducatis and bmws of every make and every type. And alfa romeos. Porsches. Like i said dreamland.

I don't think am back yet but yeah the immigration department says i am. But what do they know.

Am sorry i didn't write anything while there or posted anything but in my defence the free wi-fi was few and far in between and the tablet i took was not very comfortable with posting photos on this particular site.

Anywho am posting a few snaps on this. The full write-up may take a bit more time but i will try to do it soon.

Apart from everything else this was without doubt the best trip. I did end up spending a lot more than i had planned but i guess planning spending money on what you are passionate about was a stupid idea to begin with.

Lastly i think it is doable for anyone, we did not face any major difficulties anywhere and with google maps and gps we rarely got lost.

More later till then feast your eyes upon these.
