  • No Proof, No Thread :IBA SS1600k

    Hello,

Happy to inform one and all that on April 17 I have suscessfully completed the IBA SS 1600k. More than anything, relieved - monkey is finally off the back . I have done few similar endurance runs before (kochi- hyderabad under 17 hours, chennai to Hyd wee under 8hours, hyd-chennai-hyd under 22 hours etc) and few souls out there kept asking why not the SS. Finally went out there and finished the job in hand truly because I felt like and I wanted to.

There was definetley a conscious effort in delaying the thread as I wanted to receive the certification and name up on IBA website. Reason being, one can come across quite a lot of threads across various biking forums when you search for SS. A lot of them claim to be suscessful , completed etc but as per IBA only 14 riders from India are suscessfully certified by IBA as per preliminary list dated May 1, 2011.

Since we are a moderated forum, I think it would definetley add more credibility to us if we pay a little attention especially to threads such as saddlesore or other record runs. With all due respect, either one can choose to wait till the certificate arrives (guess little difficult with all the excitement of having finished the ride), or title the thread as eitha "attempt SS, or awaiting certification certification etc". It will surely add whole lot of credibility and make things easier for the ones searching for info. One thing for sure is there is no lack of claims of suscessful SS runs and sadly as per IBA the no. is just 14 as of now. I guess moderators can look into this matter.

This triplog is definetley going to be small one as I do not have any strange encounters or incidents to share from the ride nor the emotional bit attached to it. I rode from Hyd - Blore - Salem - Namakkal and returned to Hyd and rode past to a place called medak. Overall I finished 1781 kms in 23.5 hours and everything was as planned (fortunately) apart from few over speeding tickets from Bangalore cops., 3 of them to be specific.

Ride was well planned way ahead, as in I knew the entire stretch of road for the SS. I have ridden across NH7 all the way from kanyakumari to nagpur jus few weeks prior to SS run so i knew the real time road conditions. Knew exact fuel station where i will be filling up for the entire day and made sure that they are open 24 hours and one can avail electronic billing. All my fuel recepits were electronic so that a strong case of documenation could be presented to IBA.

Ride is done. Certificate in. Name up on the Iba website . So i guess, thats about it. One of 14 as of now from India and the first and only one from Andhra Pradesh.

I am sure there will be many more in the future. Wishing all the future attempts from one all a very good luck. Peace !!

Congratz bro.. I appreciate your approach. "Wait until certified" or notify "certification pending"..
PS: Its shocking to know India officially has just 14 registered SS rides.. Can you please provide the relevant IBA link or attach an image.

If the planning and preparation in terms both the ride and pin point documentation then i guess you have done your bit. Then always one cannot control the external forces on the road.

Congrats once again Vinu. Hope we do this next time together with more powerful bikes!
Is there any half version of this like 800kms. in 12 hours or so? I would like to try that one before going for the real thing.
