I would admit the road and the landscape from here was superb as compared to most of the places we have ridden in the past few years in Meghalaya. No blind curves, no cliffs on either sides of the road, the smooth and silky tarmac, the green desert with patches of small trees, the clear blue sky with the white clouds visible only at the horizon, those hairpins, view of the waterfalls and dam overshadowed the trouble endured during the 40kms rain-ride. It took us about 4 hours to reach the Dam from Shillong town inclusive of the time spent for food packaging, breakfast, rain ride and short stops to enjoy the scenery.
We spent almost 2 hours in an around the Leshka Dam, filling our grumbling stomach with chicken fried rice, some photography and trekking to the waterfall view point and nearby the dam. It was already 5:30pm when we left the spot and climbing through the off-road track was challenging. However, what better to expect than to ride through the open valleys with your partner as pillion enjoying the breathtaking moment through the yellowish orange sunset view to the left and the bright full moon to the right. Sigh! Unfortunately, we could not capture any photos of the sunset views and the moon. Maybe next time....even sooner, for I know we need a revisit... perhaps a one night camping-cum-biking-cum-fishing trip should suffice.
