  • Mighty Western Ghats!!

    Ride:Suzuki GS150R
    KMS:1100kms
    Riders:Myself and My friend[pillion]
    Route Map:

    Introduction:

This is my first travel log.so excuse
I had the urge to ride to western ghats from quite a long time.My native is sirsi, which is in western ghats. So most of my childhood vacations was spent there. When i was in school,i got an opportunity to ride pillion from bangalore to sirsi[450kms] with my uncle. That day i decided,am going ride here in future.
As days passed my passion for bikes became even stronger and when i joined XBHP,i realised the importance of road safety and my passion for bikes grew even bigger!!

I had finished my exams on dec 27th and was thinking about spending my vacations.
I came out of my room and saw my bike parked outside,a broad smile in my face.I knew that i had something big in my mind.I was mentally prepared for the ride.

    Preparation
I was all set for my First solo ride. When i was discussing this with my friends they all said i was crazy and shouldn't even think about riding so far on a bike. But one of my friend supported me.Even he wanted to tag along with me,so we decided to ride together.Unfortunately his bike was not in a ride able condition.so its was decided that he will be my pillion.

    1.Bike serviced.
    2.Papers checked.
    3.Tanked up
    4.Air pressure checked.
    5.Tool kit+First aid kit checked.
All necessary items packed, geared up and ready to hit the roads.

    Ride begins:
    4.am on 31st December 2010..

Ill be back with the log of day-1.Till then enjoy these teaser pics.

          Hi Manu,

Congrats on completing your First road trip.

I was in same situation like you when I wanted to do my first trip to Kundapur on my bike. But then, one positive response from my friend kept me going.
The Happiness in getting ready for the first trip, the Smile on your face once you hit the Highways for the first time and the Feel after completing trip successfully are just priceless.

          Waiting for the pics.

Wish you all the best for your future trips.

            Hi manu
Nice that even after lot of critic you did it. Even I was planning a trip from Mumbai to Mangalore Solo ride. Since I shared my idea no none of my friends supported me. They started mocking at me to the fullest extent. Finally I postponded the plan.

                30th december 2010-7pm:

I call up my friend and we decide to meet up at our usual adda.
we meet up in 10 minutes and start discussing about the next day's ride.
we planed to leave by 4am the next day. After a cuppa of coffee,we tank up for 500rs,checked air pressure and left to our houses.

Its already 11pm,but am still online and not able to sleep.
5 hours remain for the ride,i try to sleep but couldnt sleep because of the excitment.

                31st december 2010-4am:

With a ring of the alarm i wake up and get ready.Offer my prayers to god for a safe journey.
call up my friend, but no response from him.He finally recieves my call and informs me that he'll be late by one hour.
I take out my bike and the engine comes to life with just one kick.warmed up the engine for 2minutes and left my place.
We meet up at 5am and start our journey on k.r.puram bridge.

Maintaining constant speeds of 60-70kmph we hit the ring road and reached tumkur road.
It was freezing cold so we had to be well packed with warm clothes.
The newly built express way on tumkur road invited us with butter smooth roads..
slight twist of the trottle and we are at 100kmph in no time.
The roads are so good that i realised i was cruising at 100kmph only when i looked at the speedo.
After crosing all the toll gates,we took our first butt break.I looked at my watch and time was 7.15am.
Then entered the bye pass which goes towards shimoga.

Another 60kms on the odo and here we are munching our first meal of the day.
It was the time to fill our empty stomach with some Steaming hot idli's.
                Time was 9.30am.
Then we hit the roads and stopped immediately after 10kms.Oops something was wrong.............................to be continued

Thanks biru bhai.. The river part is after sagar..
If you want to go to honnavar from sagar, you need to cross ghats. There is view point inbetween the ghats where you can find this river.
