We saw two cars go past us trying to race each other.Heard a "thud" noise as they went past us.
They had crashed. The rear of First car[indica] was damaged.Luckily there were no injuries and both the cars
were going together[may be friends],so there was no disputes. They just checked their cars and left that place before the crowd gathered.
After few kms we stopped to click some photos.
Then we started our journey towards shimoga.
150kms of non-stop riding took us to shimoga and a small butt break.
Time was 11.45am.

So picked up pace and reached sagar[75kms] in just over one hour with one stop for clicking photos.
Few pics enroute...

Time was 1pm.
We had our lunch and planned the remaining part of our journey.
Our destination for the day was Murudeshwara. We had to cross the ghats after Jog falls[towards Honnavar] before the sunset to be on safer side.
Left to jog Falls and reached there around 2pm only to be dissappointed.
There was very little water in the falls compared to the last time i went there.
here is a comparo of both.
First one-->July-2009
second one-->Dec-2010

Then took some pics on the Bridge near jog[popular as Mungaru male bridge
]

Time was 4.30pm.
Started our journey towards honnavar via Gersoppa.
Reached murudeshwara at 7pm.
Reached my cousins house, which was the destination for the day.

Day-2 is very interesting[beaches etc.....]Stay tuned

Last Pic of day-1:

Day-2:1st Jan 2011
After lot of calls and wishes for the new year the previous night,we were deprieved of our sleep.
But we had to start our journey early. So got up at 6am.
Got fresh and bid farewell to my cousin and left Murudeshwara.
We planned to visit the Idugunji temple first.
Headed to Idugunji and seeked god's blessings, headed to NH-17 and we hardly had any clue that what we are going to do next.

we were going to explore the most unexplored beaches in Karnataka.
When we were cruising along the highway, spotted a sign board which had directions to a water fall.
With lots of curiosity we took a turn and started moving inside a village.
Enquired few villagers and the response was positive. There was a waterfall just waiting for us to explore.

After about 3-4kms there were no roads,so we were confused
whether we are heading in a right way and
could not spot any human in that jungle.Waited for almost 30minutes and luckily we saw a man cyling towards us.
The route which we had taken was correct and we continued our off roading.

The temperature had increased and we were boiling inside with all the gear and the jacket.
Found small streams inbetween and finally reached top of a small hill.

Heard the sounds of the water fall and in full excitment headed towards it.
We had reached Apsarakonda water falls. It was small but beautiful place.

We cleared our view through the huge covering of trees and a big big surprise was ready for us.
we were very close to the most unexplored beaches.we could see the breathtaking view from there.
There was a view point well maintained by the govt there and we were the only tourists to enjoy the beauty of that place.

After some pics at the view point.we wanted to go near the beach.
It was not easy as the tires would sink deep inside the sand.

somehow we managed to get there. There was sand all over the chain cover and the chain was making sounds.
After few pics at the beach we headed to honnavar and went to a local mechanic to check the chain.
It was bit loose and making sounds because of the sand which was sticking to the oil in the chain.
Then we tried to clean the chain, oiled it and checked the air pressure.
Had our breakfast at Honnavar.
Time was around:10.30am.
Our plan was to go to sagar via sirsi-->siddapura.But on our way to Kumta we found a new road which was going to Siddapura directly from kumta.
We enquired and found that its was shorter by 35kms,but less frequently used ghat roads[thick jungle].We wanted some adventure :weg: so started our journey..............Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Am used to leeches mate..They are only present in rainy season.Originally posted by 2strokerama View Postjungle route sounds interesting......
+ be careful of leeches when exploring unknown water areas......believe it or not, a friend of mine got a leech stuck on the ass while taking a poop on a trip to chelavara.
This time of the year, its impossible to spot them.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Sorry for the delay guys..
Let me continue form where i left..
From Kumta we took a deviation from the national highway towards siddapura.
We were at first cursing ourself for coming through this road.It had patches all around and haunted. We could see one or two vehicles every 20+kms.
But soon our badtime ended and we were welcomed by some smooth tarmac and superb ghats, thick forest and a sudden dip in temperature. At one point of time i had to switch on the headlight for visibility even though time was 2pm
We also spotted few animals. Can't name them
We stopped on top a hill to click few pics of cornering, but our simple p & s cam couldn't help us.
here is the pic:

We had lunch siddapura and started our slow and steady journey towards Bangalore. We rode on highways at midnight and reached Bangalore at 2am.
the return leg the most scary and adventurous part.My sincere advice is never ride at midnight on highways. From next time no night riding for me.
Some things learnt from this trip..

Hi Manu,
Nice ride and some lovely pics! It is a lovely route. We plan to ride the same route this April but from Honnavar we will be going to Goa via Ankola and Karwar.
Glad you decided to avoid night riding, the risks as you would know, are so much higher.
Take Care,
Ride Safe!
