    Day 3

The Dolphin encounter, Snorkeling and Visit to Sindhudurg fort

One of Avi's friend had given him an person's contact staying at Tarkarli shore. His name is Jitendra Morajkar aka Baba. He is an politician cum fisherman, owned many boats and he made arrangements for Dolphin watch, Snorkeling and visit to Sindhudurg fort as well. We called Baba a day prior and he advised us to reach at his place by 6. We woke up by 5, got fresh and headed towards the beach.

We reached before 6 but it took some time to locate Baba's place. Finally after many phone calls, we got the directions correct and we rode thru the shore for almost 5kms. It was an treat to eyes to witness fisherman everywhere on the shore dragging their fresh catch outta their humongous nets. We stopped at few places eager to see what's the catch. Most of it was famous Malvani people's fav fish... "Bangda". As usual, Avi captured those moments...

Finally we met Baba and after bargaining we got a good deal for both of us. Dolphin watch + Breakfast + Snorkeling + Visit to Sindhudurg fort for just 1100 bucks...

We got into his small boat and started the ride to watch the Dolphin(s). We were in sea water around 2-3 kms away from the shore and the motor was shut down so that the Dolphin(s) don't get scared and swim away. Baba told Avi to keep his cam ready as the Dolphin(s) can emerge from anywhere / any moment. It was literally like playing Hide n Seek. Avi had only kit lens (18-55 mm) so he wasn't able to zoom in more. We were happy though as its rightly said... "Something is better than nothing"

While returning back to the shore, Avi tried his hand on riding a boat.

We reached the shore and his mom had garma garam Kande pohe ready for us. Baba had some work so he stepped away for some while. He told us to do some tp on the shore for some time. He told that his another boat has just returned from fishing and we can see the fresh catch and do some photography.

After munching the tasty n yummy kandapoha, we went to the shore, did some tp and photography and decided to ride to Tarkarli thru the shore itself. At some places, our machines swirled and got stuck too in the sand. After reaching Tarkarli, Avi took few pics and we headed back at Baba's place.

When we returned at Baba's place, some fisherman were pulling their catch out. By looking at us, one of them started talking in Malvani ... "You spent money to see the Dolphin from long distance. If you want to see it right at the shore, wait for 30-45 mins as an Dolphin has stuck in their fishing net. We are pulling the net and the Dolphin will also be pulled along and later released."

We had time in hand so decided to wait for it and the show started as the guys started pulling the net on shore we could see many seagulls and eagle gathering in sky to catch the pray

As we waited eagerly and anxiously all of sudden it happened there it was

We were about to witness something extra-ordinary and unusual. The excitement level was heating up as we saw the Dolphin jumping off the net and slowly slowly nearing the shore along with the net. As the net was nearing the shore, we realized that the fresh catch was right below our feet in water jumping like crazy and tickling our feet. Avi clicked some shots and attention was again diverted to the Dolphin nearing the shore. Finally, the Dolphin was pulled to the shore and large crowd gathered to see the baby. WOW, wat an sight it was !!! Avi was busy clicking pics and I also took an short video from my phone.

It took 5 men to drag that Dolphin back in ocean...

It was an hell of experience which will be preserved in our memories forever. In some time Baba returned and we narrated him about our encounter with Dolphin. Upon showing the pics to him, he said... "Tumhi lok khup lucky aahat. Lok ithe khup paise detaat Dolphin baghayla, pan kadhi kadhi konala kahich disat nahi" (You guys are very lucky. People pay hefty sum just to get lil glance of Dolphin but sometimes they don't even get to see tail of it)

After some time we left to visit Sindhudurg fort. We didn't spend much time over there. Did some sight seeing and visited the one and only Shivaji Majaraj's Temple in entire Maharashtra. Sipped some Kokam Sharbat and left for Snorkeling. It was also an amazing experience to explore under water world for the very 1st time. Unfortunately, we weren't able to take cam under water

    On-route shore

Satisfied and hungry we left Malvan beach with lots of memories. Reached Mama's place, had lunch, took nap for some while.

Since it was only 5 o clock and we had nothing to do at Malvan we decided to cover some distance towards Sawantwadi. So we packed our stuff and headed to Vengurla.

Before leaving Malvan we made a quick stop at famous Golden Ganesh Temple where the idol of lord Ganesha is made from gold...

We reached Vengurla Bundar (Port) and after enquiring in many lodges, we finalized an lodge. Simple lodge but it was sea facing. after parking our bikes and unloading luggage we stepped out to have dinner and some beer..

Avi hogged on Malvani style sea food while I decided to celebrate an exciting day with few beers... After having some mouth watering food and beer (Also calling all the buggers and giving them some drunken gyaan who didn't come for ride) we went to bed..

        Day 4

The unfinished business and Return journey

Our day started with beautiful view of sunrise at Vengurla Bunder

As mentioned in the start I had some unfinished business in Sawantwadi and Avi had to visit some relatives in Hodahoda.
After discussing we decided to go towards Sawantwadi first finish my work and then go to Hodahoda to meet Avi's relatives.

All those who know me will tell you that I am not a believer of God.. however there was one thing that I always wanted to do and it was to find our Kuldevi Temple and visit it once...
All I knew it was near Kesari Goan in Sawantwadi... We reached Kesari after asking our way through and it is just before the start of Amboli Ghat...
Road was not that great but somehow we managed to reach Kesari and started asking about the temple...

One fine man invited us in his house asked me about my details and family and told me about the temple and different rituals and events which take place throughout the year.
It was the first time I was visiting this temple I had no idea about the place and didn't took anything... This man was generous enough to give me a coconut and some dhoop from his house which I can give away at Temple...
We said our thank you and headed towards the temple which is 2 kms ahead from Kesari... after some offroading we reached the temple which is located in dense forest land... A simple temple with Svayambhu idol of Devi...

We spent some at temple.. I called up my folks back in Mumbai and told them that I had found the temple... News was quite exciting for them specially coming from person like me who does not have good relationships God...

The next destination for the day was to reach Hodahoda again the same story Avi didn't knew the place and we had to ask for directions...
As i wanted to visit temple we didnt had any breakfast in morning and it was around 10 O' clock the sun was blazing on us as we were trying to find Hodahoda...
Some how we ended up on wrong roads for 3 times and wasted good 2 hours in finding the place and more frustrating thing was to see stone on the road which said "Vengurla Bunder 10 kms"

I was so pissed at Avi after looking at the stone coz I had asked him to call up his relative last night and check with them for directions however he insisted on visitng Kesari first and then Hodahoda...
As mentioned earlier Kesari is near starting point of Amboli Ghat which was the way we were going take for our return journey ... Damn Avi

        At Hoadahoda

As it was Lunch time his relatives made us wait for lunch and would not let us leave early... boy o boy what a lunch it was typical goan style chiken curry with bread and Ghavana (Kind of neer dosa) rice and salad simple food at its best..We spent a good 2 hours in Hodahoda before starting our journey back home...

It was 3 pm when we started our ride towards Mumbai using Amboli Ghat - Nipani and then NH 4 till Pune... As we had lost a good amount of riding time we didn't got much chance to click any snaps on return journey...
We crossed Lonavala around 12 O clock where we had our dinner and then continued our ride to reach home at around 2.30 AM...

All in all it was a amazing ride and would advise all to visit my native to experience the beautiful Konkan.. in other words "Yeva Konkan aaploch Asa" !!
