  • Mumbai to Kathmandu trip

As many of u guys know, I am biking to Kathmandu in 2004.

Regarding that I wanted to ask u guys a question regarding the passage de carnat rules for entering Nepal.

Does an Indian resident require an international carnat for entering Nepal? If yes, does the bike have to be in the travelling persons name? This is cause i'm considering going for a buy back scheme for a thunderbird.

Please reply back on this guys

There are Enfield dealers in Mumbai who give thier bikes for tours.

If a person wants a bike he has to pay the estimated market value of the bike as deposit i.e.anywhere between 35,000 to 55,000. After the tour is over the bike is return after charging 3500 as rentals per week or 500 a day (issue to be discussed before taking on the trip whether to take on daily or weekly basis).

In such a scheme the negative point is that the bike remains in the dealers name and if I require a carnat to enter Nepal, the bike supposedly has to be in my name.

Darius : You dont need a carnet while driving into Nepal or Kathmandu. But you need to prove about your nationality and the paper of your bikes.
