  • [Photo Feature]: So, Where are you going today?

Sunday Mornings are associated with ridiculousness saying, not even mosquitoes wake up early; but for a biker...it is the most active day. Sunday Morning accompanied by a group of friends for a breakfast is awesome; the WOW factor is only the ride

We ride over several hundred Kms for the breakfast; sometime the same we eat everyday; some ask me, why the hell do you people ride for so long to have that 2 idlies or one tea? Don't you get one or even a better one near your house? I just smile; only a biker knows the real taste of the food or is it the ride So, where are you riding today?

This morning, started 5:19 after too much confusion over where to ride, I decided on this one.

Chennai - Tindivanam - Melmaruvathur - Uthiraimerur - Kanchipuram - Chennai, total of about 285 Kms.

Had to wait for nearly an hour for them to open for a so so breakfast at Mani Iyer's Hotel at Tindivanam bang on the highway.

The route from Melmaruvathur to Kanchipuram, especially Maruvathur to Utheraimerur is fabulous. State highways & county side are always beautiful, filled with green, brown fields, haystacks on roads, palm trees...no words to explain the experience; the semi broken roads are forgotten by the pollution free atmosphere.

Thanks to CBR 250R for the company

Apologies for no pics, hope to do the same route someday & update the pics here.

      Dec 2011

This happened on a Sunday in Dec 2011

As usual woke up early didn't know where to ride; started off towards ECR & then thought of riding towards Pondy; in between thought of a diversion, took left towards Poonjeri & the route was...
Chennai - Mahabalipuram - Thirukazhikundram - Chengalpet - Chennai, total of about 160+ Kms

The route was...nah!!! let the pics do the talking...

and then finally all these roads...

lead to this one...at Chengalpet-NH45 junction

      Wish it were MPH

        Three cheers to you Aargee.
I am sure lot of bikers will echo this sunday morning fantasy. Way back in the late 80s, I used to do the same thing on sunday mornings on my RD350. Just point the bike in a different direction each sunday and ride alone for a cup of tea at a roadside joint and return back.

For non-bikers asking 'are you crazy to wake up so early on a sunday morning' our best answer is "If I were to explain, you would't understand"

          Dec 2011

          This was on 18-Dec

A proper B'Fast ride organized by SriramEFunds & we'd a good turn out too; I remember we'd two Ninja 250R, my Candy Ruby Red, White ZMA, a red RE, Avi's P220, well...let the pics talk

          Pic courtesy I.S.Avinash

Had B'Fast at Hotel Saravana Bhavan, Kanchipuram

Getting ready to leave after B'Fast...

          Somewhere in between

          Did some mini offroading...

These are the closest shot of my CBR in this forum ; Thanks to Bikerfas

We'd even managed to exchange our rides since there were Ninja's & CBR 250's; we managed the to ride all way from Chennai - Sriperumbudur - Kanchipuram - Wallajabad - Chengalpet - Tambaram - Chennai of distance nearly 160 Kms. The return leg from Chengalpet with Ananth & Whizzkid_Ram is something that I cherish for lifetime. None of us were riding our bike was the fun and most importantly the harmony of riding between all 3 of us was icing on the cake

Pls bring the pics of your Sunday morning pics, if you have Haroon; it will certainly be pleasure seeing them, especially the RD's

Perfect point; someone's signature here reads, "being a biker, easier said than done" is perfectly apt.

              Feb 2012

This is by & large one of the largest group that met for a Sunday ride; 19 of us squeezed through the narrow roads of ECR; excuse being B'Fast ride to Pondicherry. This also served as pre ride for newbies for the Kutralam ride during Mar 2012. It was really a fantastic turnout so far as we had 3 Ninja 650's, 2 Ninja 250R & 2 CBR's; one CBR was sayhai2sai's & ofcourse other one was yours truly All 7 of us tagged along together & that was also a day where I learned something from Mr.Ravi (on switching the focus when riding) who was riding his Ninja 650R at a humble speed for us. That was also the day when I rode with sayhi2sai for first time & I must admit, I like his riding style very much & I'm looking forward to ride with him. He continued to surprise me saying CBR 250R was his first motorcycle; quite impressive for a first timer to ride so good in a group. Quite experienced or passionate or even both.

              Preparing to leave

A break in between to regroup between the hyper & fast group The irony here is, the fast group went ahead of the hyper fast; well...don't ask me how!!!

The restaurant in the background; the food was excellent

              Discussion about the upcoming ride

              The way back

So here's the capture where we moved closer to beach to discuss about the ride plan

Since we wanted to prepare the endurance for the newbies, we decided to do Chennai - Mahabalipuram - Kalpakkam - Pondicherry - Tindivanam - Chengalpet - Chennai of distance nearly 350+ Kms

                Jan 2012

They say, dreams are what keeps people from sleeping; I found the same thing with Kolli hills; ever since Bikerfas rode there (T'Log here), it was always on my mind. Last December when I was at Hosur, I almost decided to go over there, the only reason why I held back was...I had a car not CBR

I decided to kill the haunting thought of Kolli; I decided to ride to Kolli & there cannot be a better date than Jan 26. Another reason to choose Kolli, besides the hill was, I could keep riding the whole day as Chennai is nearly 400 Kms from Kolli hills. So I can leave as early as possible to spend sometime exclusively riding through the hills.

Here's the ODO at start of the trip...

                Enroute this happened...

I forgot the deviation from Attur & instead kept going towards Rasipuram, but somehow my intuitions alerted me & with help of localites, took a left turn from Vazhapadi towards Mangalapuram. But that was worth, really really worth. The route was only about 11 Kms, but those were fantastic, very fantastic scenery.

                Just about the time

                Foothills of Kolli

Ride to Kolli suddenly becomes B'Fast ride 400 odd Kms for a B'Fast!!!

So finally, when I start from the hills, this was on ODO

And when I reached home, the ODO reads...

I started as early as 2:15 in the morning, refulled at Ulundurpet & then at Salem; it was all the way fun riding from Chennai - Villupuram - Ulundurpet - Attur - Vazhapadi - Belukurichchi - Kolli - Rasipuram - Salem - Krishnagiri - Sriperumbudur - Chennai for a distance of 840+ Kms.

Breakfast rides are always special... quick run, hog like there's no tomorrow, too much of discussion/talk (we call it "bakar" here) and back home for lunch.

Nice pics Aargee.. never thought that all breakfast ride pics can make such an interesting travelogue.

the pic of the sun tinged sky is awesome.
so we are having triplogues of break-fast ride.
                        really nice.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
                        #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.
