Anyways, back to the topic. I'd been planning to do a Vellore trip for like - 3 days... [that's planning in my books.
]I took the following route (source - GMaps) ~330 kms approx

So, as you can see, the plan was to leave Chennai via NH-4 and return via Kanchipuram/Chengalpattu/Mahabalipuram through ECR.
Man, I love ECR.
So, I left my residence at 5 AM and man, was Chennai crowded at that time.

It took me ~1 hour to reach NH-4 (read Poonamalle).
Reason - Many diversions on the way to CMBT (Chennai Moffusil Bus Terminus) due to Metro rail construction.
But, once I reached Sriperumbudur, I liked the road and the morning air. Plus, no cops to stop me. [Do an 80+ on ECR at 6 AM, you'll be flagged somewhere!]
Took a butt break here...

Then I rode non stop till Vellore. Suddenly, had an itch of hitting Krishnagiri, but after thinking for 5 min, decided against it. Stuck to the original route.
Vellore is a small city. Important places to visit:-
1. VIT (25% of the crowd)
2. CMC (50% of the crowd)
3. Forts/Golden temple/tourist spots (5% of the crowd)
Remaining maybe the residents.
(^^^ No facts/proofs - just my thoughts)
I visited the fort and the temple premises.
Picture time.
Lovely animals.

My steed. What would have I done without you, my love?

Way to the museum... Nothing special, but birds chirping was so soothing. Just made my day!

Pecking into the wood happily.

Cherries.... Err... Nope!

No idea what bird this is!

Used to be a sub treasury office sometime back. Dunno why, but I started feeling like a freedom fighter looking at the building... Too many movies!

Very famed university down south!

Some old collectibles/ruins.

Sat in the shade hearing birds chirp. Had a power nap... Well, had a "proper" nap for ~40 mins under this tree.

The famed temple.

This guy reminded me of my childhood. During Durga puja/diwali, I used to buy such flutes and play (actually increase noise pollution
) till my parents threw it away!
Was a little sad to see this. I know its rampant, but still....

Our mother god.

God idols. So many of them.

Hanuman langur and monkey together... Beware....

St. John's Church.

British Cannons. 2 of them!

Vellore Polizia!

Well, it was close to noon and getting hot. I'd to reach Kanchipuram too. Hence, bye bye Vellore.
One more butt break between Vellore and Kanchipuram.

Enter Kanchipuram. Man, WTH! Construction work all around, all shops closed... Roads broken... Couldn't buy sarees for mom.. Had to leave immediately. It was so hot and so dusty that I didn't dare take my DSLR out!

Full 37 kms of broken tarmac till Chengalpattu. Back breaker...
Anyways, since the second leg of the trip was spoiled due to Kanchipuram woes, I rushed towards Mahabalipuram.
Took a few snaps on my fav ECR.

Ocean along the road.

Patches of trees in between make for the beauty of ECR.

Finally, the straight road leading back home.

Came back and crashed on my bed.

Cheers....
