  • [Photo Feature]: Ride To Sandhan Valley - Grand Canyons of Maharashtra

A general discussion of going on a overnight ride turned into a an Extreme adventure.Where 12 bikers went to a very less explored place called Sandhan Valley which is near Bhandardhara in Ahmednagar District.

We started in the afternoon time and reached at the village called Samrad.
On our way to Samrad, catching the Sunset next to an waterbody

Arrangement for overnite stay and Dinner was at the village at a place of local named Yashwant. But then we had food and beverages and decided to spent the night with at Konkan Kada.Which is 15-20 mins trek from the Village.Did a night trek to the place and everyone settled themselves On the rocks. But the decision of having the raw adventure turned into a nightmare when everybody shivered for the entire night rather than sleeping.Actually speaking it was not that bad, nobody was able to sleep because of the cold and heavy winds flowing around. So for the entire night we did bakar and struggled to keep the fire alive.

View of the valley, next to where we were sleeping

Even the people wrapped up in the sleeping bags were dying due to the cold. Finally the night went and the dawn came.Everybody looked relaxed and peaceful when the Sun came out.We started back to Yaswant's place as everybody was feeling hungry and craving for Morning Tea.

Place where we slept or stayed/survived for the night

With a long session of lots of Upma and Tea.We finally started for Sandhan Valley.5-10 mins of walk from the village and we were able to see a narrow and rock path surrounded by high walls of mountains.First word came out after looking this place was 'AWESOME'.

We continued our trek,at someplaces the path was so narrow and hieght of mountain walls were so high that even the sunlight was not able to reach there. No wonder this places must be called as 'Valley of the Dark' or 'Valley of the Shadows'

We had to cross few water pools. This place is closed in Monsoons for any trek.We trekked around 2-3 kms jumping, leaning, climbing on the big rocks and made it to the end of Valley. There we get to saw another Orgasmic view of High mountains and cascaded cliffs.

Now we knew the return part was gonna be difficult as each one of us was very tired. So we rested a while and then headed back to Yashwant's place, where Lunch was waiting to be served.

On our way back to Samrad Village

A look and Feel of Samrad village

I haven't expected that the return trek would be faster than the going one.All of us quickly had the lunch, made the payment and started our course back to Pune.

Stopped at bhandardhara for few shots.

Stopped at an Amruteshwar temple in between

    A random Pano shot

We reached Pune back by 08:00 PM.Was damn tired due to the morning treak, had some fast food and crashed to bed as the next day my office awaits to screw me

    Cheers

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
