Hey Subham. Welcome to xBhp. We are a small group of about ten here belonging to xBhp BBSR and have had a couple of G2G's with members from Delhi and Pune.

For the equipment part, I can help you out. This is taken up from the site BikeNomads.
      • Toolkit (spanners size 8-19 + 22(for rear axle nuts)
      • Allen keys: 4, 5 &6mm (for front disc caliper to change pads)
      • Standard clothesline - 2/3 (the kind you'd buy for Rs 5-7) --> This is useful for towing another bike. It can be used to tie broken mudguards or loose tyre locks as well
      • Torch, if you're travelling by night.
      • Chain and lock for the night halts.
      • Duplicate key - keep the ignition key separate from the other bunch
      • Padded jacket, preferably with body armor.
      • Waterproof travel pouch for cash
      • Waterproof bag for things like cellphone/MP3 player/documents/Cam
      • Gloves
      • Maps - You can also go for one of the GPS mobiles around, but make sure you carry a spare battery in that case.
      • Cigarette point - Connect on bike to enable cell charging in remote locations as well as air pump.
      • Electric air pump/ foot pump + Puncture kit (incl. tyre levers)
      • 8"x4" wood board, to use under main/side stand on soft mud or sandy ground.
      • Rubber tube ~1 mtr long, to beg, borrow or steal petrol from some other vehicle.

You should better learn to repair a puncture, because we happened to have quite a few incidents on our trip, with no shops nearby. Prefer traveling in a group. If you can give us a hint about the trip, maybe some of us can join you on it too.

Gr8 u wanna do this tour. I dont knw how much time will it take u to reach kol.
After reaching KOL do ask abt the road conditions to the state bus drivers who travel on regular basis. they will give u the approximate condition of road.
from there take the NH-34(u hav very less choices)

            DAY 1 -> KOL- KRISHNANAGOR-MURSHIDABAD-MALDA- 330kms in all.
Caution- the road condition may be different. Plan in such a way that u stay for night at Malda. At Malda halt at hotels in the city like - Malda Tourist Lodge, Hotel Kalinga,
Hotel Purbanchal. As my hometown is Malda , so I advise to stay in Malda for the night.
Hotel room will b arnd 350-400(negotiate),try a gd sleep. Trust me the nxt day u can ride straight non-stop to Darjelling/ Gangtok.

Day 2- Malda to Silliguri- 225kms (approx) then Silliguri to Darjelling (+3 or 4 hrs max)

MALDA to SLG will be gd road. U will get GQ road after Purnea more, where u can ride above 100kmph,it will make up for the time lost.

Silliguri is big town and the road from Silliguri is almost gd,u knw govt of WB.
Road from Silliguri to Gangtok was awsome way back in 2006. u can also go to Gangtok from darjelling in a day or two,if u feel darjelling is bit congesting.
In past I had started from Malda at 4am and had coffee in Gangtok at arnd 5pm. SImple !

During GIR, which was done by the xBhpians like SUnny , the road from KOL to MALDA was hell. I hope the roads hav improved in this time of year. Whatever happens try to
stay for the night in Malda ,as its closest to Silliguri.

any more do PM me, if in any case my frnds in Malda can help u.

sir ji. u r very true abt that road. it connects from rampurhat to beherampur just a few kms away from the city .

I am just suggesting Shubham abt his days ahead so that he can plan his tour accordingly. I m not part of this tour as I am in Delhi currently. I wish I could .

And way back in 2005 I did Malda to Digha on my PUlsar DTSi 150 V1 model.
