  • [Photo Feature]: Amazing Kolli Hills

    It was a sudden trip!
Coimbatore-Kolli Hills and back, all on the same day!

It was a beautiful Friday night as Coimbatore is ever, and monsoon is adding to it awesomeness! And, the idea of going somewhere popped up in my mind and as I was looking at the whirling ceiling fan.... "Kollimalai", whispered my mind.

No thoughts of how is it going to be or can it be... Before the sun the next day, I was on the highways of Coimbatore-Erode.
I didn't visit places nor had any tourist intention.

It was all for the love of being on the asphalt.
The pics do the talking of my experience.

    Missed the first!

    Some scenic!

    My ride!

    Friendly Monkeys!

    Roads to enjoy riding!

I was reading all these at each hairpins! Was enjoying the day!

As I gained altitude out of the fog, Sun showed himself!

    1000!

Guess, thats the last photo i took, as the outside is a pleasure to enjoy!
Then, after sometime past noon, I started my trail back and reached Coimbatore that night!
A day to cherish as memories!

    Triplog Approved
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

This time the pics a clear..Superb praveen...

There is no bike to deliver such thrills on the steep U-turns or hairpins that a lower cc / power bikes... We might even think the bike may get reversed while taking those...

Great praveen., Ya please share some photos if you have...

Sorry sir, these are all the photos I have on that trip.
And also, as this was a trip taken over to just ride I didn't even cared to notice about tourist spots.

But, there is a town called semmedu and its like some sorta HQ to the hills and there is a hotel in that town to which even prebooking facilities are available. Tourist attractions include a garden, a couple of falls...

By me, the best time to visit is December. Though you can expect rains, the greenery of that area and the climate you experience, it'll be awesome and you can enjoy the falls only at this time of the year as they 'll become dry in summer.

                Yep...
Was thinking of your comment when uploading these photos.
Saw somewhere Lightroom is a useful tool and used it.

And yeah, the turns, you climb and climb the hairpins and they never seem to end. Kolli hills is helluva ride!

Kolli is one exotic place, I loved the most were the roads and the number of water falls around, its a Plateau & excellent village...would say its completely un commercialised till date.

There is a resort which is completely different from any other resorts...this is a Swiss Army tent which he has put up on the banks of a lake and just behind the tent is thick forests.

If you wannu check this, you can speak to Mr. Manimaran, the owner of the resort @ 9739700059...he has a wonderful cook also. His charges are nominal & you get a decent stay out there.

There are many resorts which are the regular one's. If you stay here, you also get a full time guide with you & these guys know each and every corner of that place.

If looking for alcohol, there is 1 place there where you can get very normal items..dont ask for Signature / Mason House / KF Beer stuff, the best he can give you is BP / OC / XXX / 5000 Beer types

Otherwise you would really love the twist n turns and your stay...try something in the monson & plan for lots of adventure / trecking / Leech's around.
Never Give up on something that you can't go a day without thinking about.

                      Cheers

Those 70 Hairpin bends are in the stretch of 28kms if i'm not wrong. Just a sample photo from a bend where you can see another 4 bends at a stretch.

Yeah, kolli hills was such a steep ride. You gain altitude in such a fast and steep manner! Amazing it is!
