  • [Photo Feature]: First monsoon ride of 2012

This ride happened on June 19. The two days before, it rained heavily in Hyderabad (the first monsoon rains) and surrounding areas. When I woke up in the morning it was cloudy and slightly drizzling, my fingers were tingling and I instantly knew whats the remedy. A ride in rain is much needed after the summer heat wave.

I have been a regular rider to Ananthagiri Hills, and I always loved riding to this place. Its around 90 kms from Hyderabad towards Vikarabad. Being a working day, I know nobody will accompany me. Packed basic needs, including an umbrella, and started riding from Kukatpally towards Gachibowli at around 10 a.m. Took Sankarpally route from Gandipet and reached Ananthagiri hills by 12:30 p.m. Was riding slow all the way and enjoyed the beautiful climate.

Visited my favorite view points all the day; most of them I explored myself before. There were small streams of water due to rains the day before. Took my bike in there and did quite a bit of off-roading. Bike stuck in one stream and it took me 10 minutes to pull it out.

Enjoyed the beautiful climate in calmness of the nature, and started riding back at around 5 p.m. and reached home by 7:30 p.m. All in all, a cool ride at the start of the monsoons.

    A few pictures...

Helped by this for self shots.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Nice ride and pics Ravi. I guess the monsoon changes almost everything- the weather, the scenery, the road conditions and of course the enhanced greenery. Glad you could enjoy a ride at the very start

You are very much right, monsoons are hell for cities, particularly Hyderabad with worst drainage system.

The gorillapod in the picture is not the Original Joby Gorillapod. Its an imitation and I bought it for 700 from Kolkatta seller on e-bay. The similar original Joby Gorillapod is selling at 3.4k on Flipkart. Will buy it someday.

It was very tough with the normal tyres. But the low saddle height of the Dazzler makes controlling easy even when slipped.
