Looks like a pretty bad ride . BTW just for information , did any of you have any prior experience of riding down NH17 . Cause there are already so many threads mentioning how treacherous and how risky NH17 can be for inexperienced folks. Even seasoned riders ride decisively on the notorious stretch of NH17 . Good to see that you stopped at Poladpur . Wishing you safe rides ahead

Well just an observation from your log .

I am a biker waiting for a long weekend. That long week end too came touching the heat of my heart. it was 13 Aug. till 15 Aug 2011. I was planning for almost four months to do a long ride on these days and was waiting for my day to come. First the place was in dilemma. I don't want to go for silly 200, 300 Kms ride but something big where there is lot of fun. Where I can enjoy almost everything I see,
I do not know if you have been on long rides before , but for me an ideal start is a numerous number of small rides in small sensible groups to get the jist of roads and driving conditions. There is a lot of fun even in small rides , distance is just a parameter.

        Cheers,
        Pai

Yes very true like 'Kartikpai' said short rides are necessary. First of all salute for the biker spirit. after so much of difficulties you guys finished the journey. But i think u guys/bikers should have continued in group rather than spliting up. Also a little home work about the roads can be done. Anyways am glad u guys returned safely. Ride safe

            Thanks Kartikpai for your comments
I have used NH17 only twice before this ride that was a short ride like to Alibaugh, and Murud Janjira. Both time the Roads where very bad and was able to see lot of accidented trucks and cars all the way.
But other than that the whole stretch was very scenic in all season filled with beauty of Nature.

A very good ride indeed but for the sad accident(s).
Anyway think positive, you & your riding friends have gained a lot of wisdom from this trip.
And always remember- Even for experienced riders, when we think we have learnt it all and done it all, the bike gives us our next lesson in riding...

Ride safe & hope to see more trips from you.

                        Yeah Haroon,
This Trip thought us a lot. But It was a very costly Lesson. Thank god the Impact Was not so much that there was some casualities.
and Now a days I started wearing helmet as soon as I sit on the bike before moving, If I dont have a helmet I start walking.
and Really the Helmet saved him and our Trip. My Kind Advice to all fellow riders. when every you plan for a ride please wear all the necessary Protective riding Gear and move on. Let it be a hot Sunny Day or even its a short Trip to office.
I am following the same and doing that got two Riding Jackets, Cross Helmet and a Riding glove to protect me. I wear it every day to office.
