Day 3: Thekkady - Idukki - Munnar.
Part 1: Thekkady
Since I've a ton of pictures of day three, i've split it into 2 parts. I started off with 200pix for part one but trimmed it down to 46..
So day 3 started a little late, the first ferry to the periyar lake in periyar tiger sanctuary is at 7:30AM and I got up at 7AM !! Ram decided to skip this for sleep and washing his bike since he had already visited the place previously. Our room was less than a min away from the entrance but there were already 4 tourist buses outside and when i went in saw a ton of tourist cars.. i thought i was surely gonna miss this!! I ran, jostled, pushed and pulled and got one of the last tickets to board the ferry !!
The entrance to the boat house is on the left.. i took a right and had to run back!

That is alot less boat for the crowds that have arrived.. and my luck it was raining!
So much for bliss.. the crowd..
These kids wanted their picture taken to find out who was taller..
This would be my 3rd boat ride in my life till date !! I dont know swimming.. they gave those life jackets though..
Aaahh.. emptyness !

Like i said our boat was fast.. we were returning to base while the slower boats were yet to complete the trip..
The weather was getting better..
Atlast some wildlife.. wild bison..
You seriously need powerful binoculars for this trip!! My Lumix's 16x zoom was useless!

Big whoop!! One elephant.. apparently the herd just went inside the forest as we came in.. this always happens to me!
On my roadtrip to Ooty via Bandipur Nation park near Mysore.. I spotted a lone mother and calf while the herd disappeared into the forest..
Sleepy bird..
Back to base.. Nice and sunny.. but no tigers though you have to be extremely lucky to spot them but overall I was very happy with what I saw..

The pictures are beautiful Sriram. I must say, a different set than the previous two days. You are lucky to have a beautiful cloudy weather, especially in the morning. How could Ram miss this boat ride in such a beautiful climate? But, I have to agree, some prefer sleeping and they are blessed too I feel.
