    1 tale to share

    DAY 1: Bangalore-Hassan-Belur-Kudremukh-Karkala-Sulya (500kms)

    At the beginning....

    All set to GO!

    Just before Belur...!

We finished our breakfast just after Belur and continued our odyssey towards Kudremukh. The roads were in pretty good condition until we reached Kudremukh forest check post.

    Somewhere on the bridge...

    Photo shoot...

    Green, green, green everywhere....

    Tea estates...!

A waterfall enroute to forest check post

The view just after crossing the check post...

    The bridge...

It was so cold and clean....

    The hill range....

    Kudremukh hill range...

    Lakya dam...

The water you see here is mining wastes contaminated... and photos are restricted here.... well somehow managed to get a few...!

    Kudremukh national park...

    Kadambi falls...

    Raining....

    foggy all around....

There was a heavy downpour while we were riding through Kudremukh National park and also savouring this beauty slowed us down and resulted in change of plans. The initial plan was to reach Madikeri on the first day. We had our lunch at Karkala in the evening around 4pm and decided to call it a day in Sulya as were very tired travelling through really bad roads from Kudremukh to Sulya via Karkala, Bantwal and Puttur.

    Coming up....
    DAY 2: Sulya-Madikeri

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

                      thank you...
and as the time we had been was a monsoon, i couldnt risk my leg being soaked all the time as i have some issues regarding my ankle...
so i avoided shoes so that chappals can always keep my ankle dry....
and thanks again for this concern....

                              DAY 2 & DAY 3: Sulya-Madikeri-Ooty

                              DAY 2: Sulya-Madikeri (70kms)

Surprisingly even though every one of us were tired previous night, we managed to wake up early and left to Madikeri by just half an hour past the scheduled time. Later after few kms we thanked the divine force which led us to stay back in Sulya the previous night, this will be explained later in the write up.

We decided to have our breakfast after reaching Madikeri which eventually was missed due to the beautiful tarmac encountered. Yes right, the fabulous and winding road from Sulya to Madikeri was savoured to the utmost extent by even forgetting our breakfast. The initial roads from Sulya was not promising as how the localities there described. But once we reached the roads of KODUGU District, the beauty of thick black tarmac and the flora surrounding was welcomed to me by a bus which had unjustifiably claimed my side of the road on the very second corner. Well when I stopped for the other guys to catch up, it started to drizzle. But thanks to the same old force, it stopped the very next moment. Spent some good time discussing about the rest of the twisities to be encountered and prayed so that our expectation would be upheld. If the previous day plan wasn't changed, then we would have missed this beauty in the dark by just manoeuvring it. So we were thankful.

                              super smooth tarmac...

Our 1st break after entering the roads of KODUGU District

                              This stretch can't be forgotten....

                              Some down stream...

                              Just before reaching Madikeri...

We reached Madikeri by lunch time and had some real hard time searching for a room and finally found one. But I was surprised to know that Madikeri was a bit expensive and it was later justified when we did finish the trip as it was the expensive place in the entire trip we had been to. Later found some restaurant, had our breakfast cum lunch and then left to view the mighty Abbey falls. The road leading to Abbey was in a bad shape. One has to descend a few steps to view the falls which traverse through private coffee plantations.

                              Our 1st glimpse of Abbey...

It is said that, this falls was earlier named after a daughter of British Chaplin and was later renamed as Abbey(which means falls). If observed keenly, it is said that the falls resembles to a young lady's face which we failed to recognise it

                              The mighty Abbey...

                              Down stream of Abbey...

Then we moved on to Raja's seat which was nearby and spent some full fun time there by enjoying the beauty. It is said that while the Raja's were alive, they used to come here on every evening and enjoy the peace here. Well it truly was coming.

                              View from Raja's seat...

                              A pathway...

                              A group pic...

There was a toy train ride here and Abhishek was expecting to ride once on it which wasnt possible because of the scarcity of people around it:P Truly speaking, we were happy for it.

Later in the evening We planned for a movie after finishing our darshan at Omkareshwara Temple. The road leading ot it was very steep. We thought that the fuel saved while descending it would be burnt while ascending it:P

                              1st view of Omkareshwara Temple...

                              Temple premises...

Finished our movie, then had our dinner and discussed about the current day fun and next day plan then headed to bed.

                              DAY 3: Madikeri-Kushalnagar-Hunsur-Nanjangudu-Gundlupet-Bandipur-Masinagudi-OOty (250kms)

For absolutely no reason we woke up early and left to Ooty pretty late than it was suppose to happen. This day was complete travelling and we had planned to reach Ooty by evening. As we started late, we decided to have our breakfast at Kushalnagar and were happy to know that the road rests in the same condition up till Kushalnagar. We reached there in no time. But this road didn't constitute of much twisities which did on the previous day.

Had our breakfast and headed towards Bandipur. With lot of cross winds, it was difficult to maintain good speeds and reached Bandipur almost while it was nearing evening.
And also breakfast had in the morning had some adverse effect on Pradeep and this slowed us even further. But he was all OK at the end of the day, Thanks to his courage.

                              Between Madikeri and Kushalnagar

Roads in Bandipur were at very good shape but with infinite amount speed breakers. We enjoyed the cool climate as we moved further in, spotted some deer and peacock and also some peculiar looking monkey. Later reached Mudumalai Reserve, here only after verifying our documents we were let through and the roads were OK when compared to Bandipur. It was around 4pm when we reached Masinagudi and fuelled up R15 there and had some butt break.

                              Entering Bandipur...

                              Ah...! Curve ahead...

                              Entering Mudumalai forest reserve

                              Just before Masinagudi...

Later on continuing, we neared the 36 hair pin bend and
were excited. But it truly didn't stand up to it as most of the bends were quite steep. We reached Ooty by 6pm and found some descent lodge and dumped our luggages and planned to visit some tourist places there. But it wasn't successful as most of it was closed by 6 30pm, and so we decided to roam around the streets of Ooty and it paid off. We were happy with what Ooty offered us as the city was peaceful unlike Bengaluru and was also damn cold. Had some good time in the streets of ooty and finished our dinner and headed back to the lodge. We didn't sleep as soon as we headed back because we had some work to be done on the rider bags so as to protect it from rain. So made a bag of our own using very thick plastic cover which was bought in Madikeri and then decided to visit Doddabetta next day morning and then leave for Munnar.

                              Entering Ooty ghat...

                              Some beauty en route...

Roaming the streets of Ooty... It was so cold out there...

                              to be continued...

                              DAY 4: Ooty-Doddabetta peak-ooty(lodge)-Coonoor-Coimbatore-Pollachi-Udumalaipettai-Munnar (300kms)
