Thanks for the heads up steve....I am going through ur thread....Naah! dude i am planning for a relaxed ride and stay. I was just wondering with the roads and route as a lot of ppl said it will take 12hrs or 9hrs etc etc from Bangalore.

I also did a Live Maps direction and it gave me a somewhat diff route which is as follows.

Any idea with petrol bunks? How would be the weather now?

kodaikanal is a wonderfull riding destination, final 70kms of winding ghat road is something out of a bikers dream. to top it all the scenery and mist that greets u atop kodai is something thats needs to be witnessed. i can recall the roads from dindugal to vatlagundu, it was raining very heavily and i was still able to manage 90kmph on those rain soaked roads so no doubt abt its quality. after vatlagundu the climb starts, the road is a 2 way ghat road so watch out for truck and tourist buses using up ur side of the road exiting a blind corner, i had more than 2 close calls on that road with some trucks after which i really cut down on the speed. so ride carefully have fun.

Reach Kodai at around 5:30 PM yesterday i.e. 25th Dec. It took somewhere around 10 hrs from Bangalore with a breakfast & lunch stop and a lot of pics & butt breaks

The roads are good, however, some 10 kms before Kodai the roads are very bad with large potholes. Will
post the pics once back in Bangalore on Sunday

Last year, in my trip to Kodai, I have taken this route. It was excellent. Never faced any bad roads. The roads were really good. Of course, I do not the road conditions after the recent rainy season.

Regarding the weather, it must be very chilling there. On a sunny September day, I felt real cold at night, could not put my bare leg on the floor. I was surprised to see no fans in the rooms. I have seen cool drinks stored in just normal water, to keep them chilling.

But, do not miss the kodai, lovely place.

good that u reached kodai, go ahead and explore lots of places there. me, srini and krish rode there some 2 years back and we had to ride back form kodai lake to palani road some 13kms away at 7pm and my fingers literally froze numb, not to mention that my whole body was shivering like a diesel engine gone out of balance. anyways i really miss kodai, such a lovely place, have fun and flood us with pictures.
