  • Solo madness to kodachadri

Finally did koda, had this in mind for a long time, super adventurous ride it was started at 5:30am on monday and back to bangalore on tuesday 8:00pm. Pics coming soon, small teaser for now

    DAY 1 (Bangalore-Tumkur-Arsikere-Kadur-Shimoga-Sagara-Hasirumikki-Sampekette-Kodachadri 426kms)
So as usual i did not get much sleep the previous night as i was excited about the ride ahead, slept for just 2hrs, alarm screams and i am up in a jiffy for the first time Got things ready and left at 5:30am, expected it to be cold outside, but it wasn't. Headed towards tumkur and the truck traffic was just too much all the way. Stopped at Arsikere CCD for breakfast, the only option i had since my stomach was growling more than the bike . Breakfast stop was for almost 50mins, enjoyed a ok ok bread omelette and a nice coffee to finish with.

    Towards Arsikere

    Arsikere CCD

    Enroute Kadur

The temperature started to shoot up and i had to make frequent stops to have a quick sip,

The roads were just amazing, this is the first time i was riding on these roads. No traffic what so ever. It was just me the bike and road, reason being i was riding on a weekday

From Sagara to Hasirumukki the roads where just Infact on one of the corners i stopped for a pic, went back again and then rode through again

The inside forest roads towards Hasirumukki was really well laid and smooth, at point when i was doing about 90+ some bee/fly/insect whatever managed to enter my helmet and it got stuck behind my ears, had to break all of a sudden, removed my helmet and saw the naughty fella flying out, luckily nothing happened, it was a bit painful for sometime, but as the ride progressed i just totally forgot about it

I was looking forward for my first ever ferry ride and man!!!! i enjoyed it. After being on the road for a few hours, all sweaty, standing right on top of the ferry enjoying the cool breeze and the amazing views you get.

The ferry ride was for just 20mins and the charge was just 6/- bucks Now the real ride began i was just waiting for the off road to start. I had never done this long off road ever. The only other off road i had done was nandhi and few other places.

    And the climb begins

The off road might look easy in the pics, but one has to ride there to feel it. Just wondering how this place would be in monsoons, will be a challenging ride, especially when coming down.

It started to become more challenging as i went ahead

At this point i was half way through the off roading and was dripping top to bottom, boiling hot it was.

And finally i reached the point where you cannot ride further, all i wanted was a good stay and to my surprise the 2 guest houses where closed and the last option i had was to stay in a temple, i gave it a thought walked around for a while, thinking whether i must ride back down and stay at a good place, and finally decided to stay in the temple itself, who cares these kinda rides happen once in a way and you need to make memorable So i freshened up and started a conversation with the guy there who looked after the temple, he was asking about the ride and why i came alone and stuff. The last thing i expected was some good food for dinner, but the food he offered was really......................... all i had for dinner was a bar of snickers and loads of water. Slept for just 2hrs because the wind was so hard that the roof and the steel covers of the windows started to shatter real loud, and last a big mallu gang arrive and they continue screaming and shouting and what not till 4am in the morning. Slept for a while and around 5:30am i got up, freshened up a bit and left that place. I was waiting to go down and have some good food for breakfast. I think this is the first time in 21years i starved for a night. Painful it was after the loooong ride All in all a good experience though Next time i ride to Kodachadri will carry my saddle bags packed with food and drinks

    The place where i stayed

    Sunset at Koda

MOnkeying around in the night i was pretty jobless

Day 2 to be cont.... stay tuned .......

          Nice Pics.
Kodachadri is actually a really good place to go to. Went there with some friends a while back. Climbing up and down that hill thats completely offroad is seriously good fun. Extremely tiring but probably the most fun i've ever had at such a slow speed . Did it feel like you're engine was on fire when you finally reached the top?

                DAY 2- KODACHADRI-SAMPEKATTE-NAGARA-THIRTHHALLI-SHIMOGA-KADUR-TIPTUR-TUMKUR-BANGALORE- 427KMS

Home stretch it was, i was back on the saddle by 5:45am, made my way slowly and steadily down, as going down hill needs for effort and control. I made sure it was a relaxed ride back home, since i had office the next day, I did not want to strain myself by riding fast, i was looking at just 400+kms so took a lot of breaks to click a few pics and even stopped for a half an hour power nap which was really refreshing as i had not slept properly the previous night.

                Good morning Koda

                [SIZE=5]

At this point i was really hungry and looking forward for some good breakfast Finally just after finished descending there was this hotel on the right, stopped there and belted 10-12 idlies 3 cups of coffee

After the good breakfast i was just cruising all the way through the forests. The roads from shimoga to thirthahalli is just superb

                When MR.Bolt completed 29k

I don't remember the name of this fort, @Phanikar any idea, because i remember you telling that you will see a few forts on the way.

En route shimoga when riding on this stretch i did not fee like i was riding in India

After a nice heavy lunch at Shimoga, i could not concentrate on the roads as the 2 plates of biryani which i belted was giving me a good sleep, so decided to halt for a while and take a quick power nap The place what i found was just perfect

I was looking at the last 120+kms, decided not to stop anywhere, went on as planned and reached home by 7:30pm, this was another great solo ride, which i completed without any incidents and i also thank @Phanikar and @praful for helping me with the routes.
