  • Need route details (delhi-mussorie/dhanolti)

    hello to all xbhpians
here i m starting this thread to get the necessary details abt the route delhi to musoorie.
As me and some of my friends(6) are planning a trip to mussoorie on bikes, most probably in the first week of January. For all of us this wil b our first long trip on bikes. Therefore i want some suggestions or things to be take care of in this trip from all of you here.
    there are 3 bikes:-
    1. rtr fi 160(mine)
    2.bullet 350
    3.discover 135.

    kindly suggest/provide me on:-
    • Detailed map upto musoorie and plz share some info abt dhanaulti too.
    • Things to b taken along for any emergency conditions( refer to bikes).

    • I hav also check the tourer section and find tht there had been a trip to dhanaulti in aug of 2008 by 7 Xbhpians. which also include TVS RTR in it i guess it belongs to Manan Chaturvedi! therefore i request those guys to kindly suggest me the things to be taken care of i.e roads condition, driveabilty experience for RTR as mine is RTR FI.

    • lodging facility in dhanaulti.

i knw tht here i extended my query a bit but it will help us to complete our trip in a better and safe way.

i kindly request all members to suggest the appropriate.

    regards

    Topic Approved.

I've been to Mussoorie - Dhanaulti atleast 4 times, if not more..

    Route - 1
    NH-1 (Delhi - Karnal - Pipli - Paonta Sahib - YamunaNagar - Dehradun - Mussoorie - Dhanaulti).

You have to take the right turn from the Pipli red light and then ride onto Paonta Sahib; then from there you can easily reach YamunaNagar.

There is yet another route that people take, but I personally don't quite prefer that one because of both the road and the traffic condition prevailing in UP. Just in case you are looking for that route though, here it is:

    Route - 2
    Delhi - Ghaziabad - Modinagar - Meerut - Muzzafarnagar - Roorkee - Haridwar - Rishikesh - Tehri - Mussoorie - Dhanaulti.

The things you would mostly be taking for emergency are - tubes (in case of tube-type tyres), or tubeless puncture sealant kits (in case of tubeless tyres), accelerator and clutch cable and the toolkit. However, all I used to take whenever I used to ride there on my P-180 Classic was JUST my toolkit.. I am yet to make my P-200's debut run to Dhanaulti!

As for accomodation options in Dhanaulti, there is not much, really apart from one (or was it two?) hotels and a GMVN tourist guest house (which you can book online by going HERE)

That is mostly all you would need; and the roads from Mussoorie to Dhanaulti is heaven! Pure heaven.. (I am not so sure about the condition as of now though).

Enjoy the ride and bring back some marvelous pictures.

Yes, the NH-1 is a very well laid out piece of tarmac. The road from Pipli till YamunaNagar is a bit in shambles because of the traffic, but then the rest of the route is pretty good, with proper divider in-between and stuff..

And moreover since you reside in West Delhi, it would be a cake-walk to take the GT Karnal road.. (I also live in West Delhi, hence, I've always preferred the NH-1 instead of going through UP!)..
        :)

Yes, I visited that place, I have the "Outlook Traveler" which I seek everything from, including the distance chart, the map, et al..

Anyhow, since you are planning to take the Meerut route, that map is already provided, which is pretty much you need really. Moreover, even without the actual map, you can reach through NH-1 (in-case you are inclined to ride through that route).
