Well this trip started out suddenly... It was Saturday and half day for us at work …. But what to do after work ?? You dont have much of a choices like in metros do, if you live in smaller cities like Hubli. I Asked my dear friend Rohan what to do this weekend?? Seems he didn’t have any answer. So why not plan a gang ride. Called up our RE clan members. Few ready to go and few in a tentative state. (Asking clan members to join for a ride is one hack of a job, lots of persuasion and motivation required, at first they will have lots of excuses, but later on they will join). Anyhow Me and Rohan was sure we would be going for this ride whatever happens / whoever joins us or not. Few follow ups and yes, we have five bikers ready for the ride. All clan members gathered at our regular adda and we are ready for the ride.

It was around 7.30 pm, so this was going to be night ride. Hubli to Dandeli is not a long distance, some 100 Kms odd, takes around 2hrs. But the road conditions are not very good. Few patches are new tar roads and few patches dusty mud /stone roads. When dry, the dusts are so intense it almost gives foggy like feeling in the road.

So we stated out at 7.30pm. First Stretch - Hubli to Dharwad, perfect roads, four lane, our bulls were thumping to glory. 2nd stretch – Dharwad to Dandeli – Single lane, patchy roads, dust all around and surrounded by wild forest .Since Dandeli is situated on a forest reserve ( Dandeli Forest Reserve ) both sides of the road is wild forest .On the way we stopped for the smokers smoke . Well I don’t smoke but have to understand the feelings of the smokers in our clan and every 40-50 Kms we need to follow this ritual . Till now we were not sure where we were going to stay and what we gonna eat. Hotels in Dandeli do not remain open till late nights. So that was a worry for us, anyhow Vinay called up one of his old contact Mr Wilson in Joida. (Joida is around 25 kms from Dandeli). Booked our stay in his homestay and dinner menu was also decided on spot. Again we rode and reached Dandeli. Dandeli is the last spot where all your mobile networks will work, so everyone called up their loved ones and tucked their mobiles in the deepest pockets of their bag. Mobile phones these days has become such a integral part of our life, it is very difficult to let it go. With all those calls, chatting and surfing, when you don’t have access to those, you feel like something is not going right today. But deep down I had a sense of happiness that those calls and messages will not be there to bother me while I enjoy the nature. And anyhow it is a matter of just one day.

The last stretch was Dandeli – Joida . This stretch of ride is one of most memorable and enjoyable. Twisty roads with wild forest both side and the cool air breezing from the forest will make any biker attain his nirvana. Pitch dark with five bulls thumping through the forest, we reached Joida. Mr. Wilson was there to greet us and take us to his home stay. We followed his Bolero in rough terrain off-road and finally reached our home stay at around 10.30 pm. Mr Wilson had already done all the arrangements for us Beds, foods, Campfire, etc... We chit chatted for very long and finally went to bed with curiousness of what is in for next day’s ride.

Woke up next day at around 9.00 am, with some tonics in stomach and late night sleeping you tend to sleep longer. Don’t you ??? Anyhow, what a fine morning outside!!! perfect sunshine and birds chirping in distant woods. One could see steep farming paddy fields on one side and forest on the other.

    Wilson's Home Stay

Freshened up and had belly filling breakfast for the day. Mr Wilson had the perfect arrangements done for us. Dandeli is famous for river rafting and wild safari in Tiger reserve. The earlier night we had decided to go for river rafting, so Wilson enquired with local peoples about river rafting possibility on that day. But our luck was not with us and rafting was not possible on that day as water has not been released from the dam. Wilson immediately planned something different and he planned to take us to Syntheri Rocks.

Syntheri rock is a 300 foot wall of rock beside which flows a river. So. It seems perfect spot to be visited. We all left our home stay through a off road track to Syntheri Rocks. Below are few pics on the way to Syntheri rocks. ..

After returning back from syntheri rocks, we had our lunch and Mr. Wilson had planned a backwater visit to Kali River . He called up his friend who had a boat and so arranged a river ride for us . This time we planned to go in Wilson's Bolero 4x4 . So we immediately jumped into the back area of his bolero which was modified for jungle safari purpose. Below is the pics on the way to backwater

After the river ride we returned back to Hubli ,which was also a night ride. So one more ride that is never to be forgotten. But we couldn't experience two things i.e, River rafting and night jungle safari which Dandeli is famous for . We shall come again Dandeli ...

Triplog is good with some nice pictures. However it would be have much better, if all you guys had helmets on & looked safe. Helmet is a bare minimum criteria to be safe.
      Ride safe guyz..

I thought, here it was never supported riding without helmet.
Wondering how the trip log is approved without any message or any word of caution or maybe missed.

The pics are beautiful especially of the road to Syntheri rocks and around the actual place.
I agree to what Rachit has said .... ATGATT. Atleast the helmet was expected.

I have removed the pics in which there are lidless riders. I have not closed or deleted this thread, in the hope that the thread starter will see and learn from the replies of members.

Thanks mod for the approval .. I agree with all of you on the safety part. Believe me all our members have riding jackets and helmets and safety is our first priority when we ride . Since we were travelling very short distance from homestay we all left our gears at the home stay .
