Day 2 – The ride to Lonavala and Khandala…
Very tired last day obviously we could not get up before 7AM (Original plan was to start by 6 ), hot water was not coming in the hotel so waited for that one more hour (hot water tho bahaana tha we wanted to sleep for some more time ) at last got ready by 9
We wanted to check out whether the engine oil level went down in our bikes and digged in our bags to search for a cutting plier… after some digging we realized that we forgot to get the pliers With out wasting any more time started off to buy one… after roaming around some hardware shops and questioned by some traffic cops seeing our AP registration bikes, at last found out a shop where we could get a plier….
Checked out the oil levels and it was perfectly fine…
After having our breakfast we could start off to our trip by 12:30
On the way we saw a Hero Honda Showroom and stopped by to get our chains oiled and an overall check up for our bikes… (btw we saw a Honda CBR ’08 model coming out from this HH showroom, by the time we can have a better glimpse of the machine the rider ripped it ).
Started off from HH showroom by 1 in the afternoon and very soon reached the ghat sections.

The very first pics we took before entering the ghat section

For me it was not that amusing at the first instance as I had a better view of all green and water in the last rainy season but shashi was unable to resist seeing the breath taking scenery around. We stopped by and remembered the film TORQUE where we have similar type of locations during the titles… it was like a dream come true riding through those hills.

Some of the roads we cruised on:

We stopped by some viewpoints, tasted some sweet corn delicacies at lion’s point and spent some time relaxing our minds….

The marvelous view points we had seen:
I am sure these pics would do least justice to what we have seen in real

After some more traveling around the places we tasted the very famous Lonavala Chikki and started back to the lodge at around 4pm.
Reached the lodge by 6pm and went to MG road to have a look at Planet DSG outlet (I wanted to take a daijya helmet and both of us wanted to buy knee pads) we saw a Kawasaki ninja ZX 10 R outside the DSG outlet and were amused by the bike’s size, but when we entered inside the showroom for a shock we saw a TRIUMPH ROCKET and HONDA – DN01 seeing the size of the bikes, the ZX-10R looked puny to us.

The Honda DN-01 and the Triumph Rocket -
Sorry about the clarity.. i clicked these pics with my cell phone

Looked around the shop and decided to take 2 daijya helmets, 2 knee pads and one DSG full gloves. Once we decided upon the models we came to know the fact that the credit card machine was not working and I did not have the required cash in our A/C’s. So called to dad and requested to transfer some amount to my A/C which will take a day for sure…
Disappointed, we came back to the lodge and planned to go to lonavala and khandala trip once again the next day just to enjoy the drive and changed our plan for mahabaleswar ride from 2 days to 1 day.

(Actual plan was to start of to mahabaleswar the next day, spend the night there and come back to Pune the next day evening)

Some more pics of the journey:

This particular road looked too good with the sun light splitting through the trees

We missed this view point the last day

Look at the dare devil standing on the edge in this pic

Got back to the lodge by 6 and went to DSG outlet and bought what all we wanted (the gloves and one set of knee pads were not available and they said that they will courier the same to our address) the total bill came to 17,100 its really a great place to make holes in your pocket but as you know safety comes first, every penny spent for the riding gears is worth it.
Got back to our lodge, tried the new riding gear we bought and the pics came out like this

We slept at around 10pm after watching ROADIES and planned to start off to Mahabaleswar by 6:30 to 7 am in the morning.

Good that you have got smooth tarmac. In our trip, we faced the extremes of the roads. I have seen some of the worst roads in my life. Not just gravel, but one particular stretch, where is is a tar road, but highly bumpy. I just literally held the handle of my Zma very hard and rode at 60-70 kmph for around 10 km. The bike was literally wobbling.

Hmmmm... ya ravikiran told me about the road conditions you guys have ridden and how confusing the roads were... as u know even we planned for the same trip but we changed our plan considering the fact that neither of us knew kannada...
After all you can't expect a person on the highway or dhaba to speak english

Sorry for this delay in posting the main log and the pics... The mahabaleshwar ride...

                            Here goes the log

Got up by 8 and started off to our trip by 9 in the morning after having our breakfast. After asking a few people about the routes and filling up our tanks, we headed to our journey.
The road to the ghat section was awesome 4 lane and we felt like ripping our bikes to the maximum but as we were only 2 of us we did not want to take any sort of risk and cruised at 100 and a maximum of 110 speed. The scenery was awesome and even the ride uptill the ghat section.

Moving further we had seen some sign boards saying waterfalls... but we could hardly find any water there

We stopped by the sunset point and took some snaps, relaxed there for sometime enjoying the spectacular scenery. Shashi had least interest in the viewpoints like Venna lake etc which were totally crowded and as I have already seen these points before we decided to stop by the places only where we can take our bikes along.

So we started back to search for the places as planned, at the first break shashi rested somewhat like this and I ate half KG of strawberries

Started back from this point at around 4pm. While coming back we were stopped by one more solo rider on a Pulsar 150 he inquired us about which group we were from and where were we heading to etc. that guy was going back to home after a very long trip
Reached back home by around 7pm had dinner and slept for the day without wasting any tome as we had a long journey ahead for the next day.
