  • 2 days, 736 kms, 6330 ft, solo ride!

wanted to get away from the busy schedules and the head aches, planned to go on a weekend trip, we had a friday off too. Had no destination in mind thought will goto kodaikanal first but then time was less and also was kinda short on budget. So decided to goto coorg. Friday morning around 5 in the morning left surathkal and reached kukke subramanya around 9-ish, the roads were brilliant. Then decided to goto somwarpet so check my gmaps it showed me a road from kukke to somwarpet direct, but had a hard time figuring out the road, tried asking the locals but they told me to go through sakaleshpur which is at least 50 kms more than the route gmaps showed, wasnt able to get gps fix too, after some time got the fix and figured out the road the phone was showing and there was a good reason the locals dint know the road leads to somwarpet, it was a very small road, called bisle-ghat road and this stretch of 25 kms was the scariest and most horrible roads i had been till date. The first 4-5 kms was narrow but new road so it was fine but then the hell started, the road was atleast 10-15 years old or more there was hardly any tar left and was full of potholes and rocks and it was through thick forest and there was not even a single vehicle on the roads, it was damn scary, the only things i could hear was the sounds of the birds and some random noises from the forest. everything was just scary. it took me around an hour to cover it and i couldnt cross 20-25 kmph, literally!

But then i thought it was worth it when i started reaching the top, it view was just too good! i was standing right next to pushpagiri and after that there was a view point it was scary to go there alone, from there i could see the entire valley and it was awesome! stayed there for sometime and left and after an hour's ride i reached somwarpet and i check gmaps for nearest ccd and it was in kushalnagar, there was the golden temple too there so i left to kushal nagar. I reached the ccd in about an hour had late breakfast and reached the golden temple, it was good. Spent some more time there and headed towards coorg. I reached there, checked in a hotel and i rested for a while and i left to see abbey falls and roamed for sometime and got caught by the police, they asked for documents , i showed them everything and they left me. I then went back to my room and slept off around 9 pm and suddenly woke up at around 2 am and couldnt sleep at all so i did not want to waste time so i packed my stuff and went towards somwarpet. i planned to goto belur. it was early morning 3 am and it was FREEZING! not to mention it was very dark too and without street light it was pretty challenging to travel. after 2 hours of travelling i reached shanivarsanthe. My back for some reason was aching really bad, so i thought i would rest for sometime and checked in a cheap lodge and rested till around 10 am and then i left towards belur. Reached belur in 2 hours and went to yagachi dam, nothing spectacular. Then headed towards halebeedu and then to chickmangalore. The ride to muliangiri was very good. and as it was too late to reach kemmangundi, i started heading back and through the charmudi ghats reached back to surathkal, overall a really good and pleasant trip

couldnt attatch all the pics, check https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=c434166223

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Nice weekend trip. Beautiful pics. Sometimes, we had to face the odds to get to see a beautiful place. We will forget the trouble as we are immersed in the beauty of the place.
