Day 3 ; Munnar - Bodimettu : Some more of Tea Estates :

It was a fresh day! With all the tiredness of the first day gone and the usual fog outside the room. We lazily got ready and were supposed to hit the Munnar - Theni stretch!
That was not the only plan for the day. We intended to attend shows of Kathakali and Kalaripayatu in the evening. So we had to be back by a max of 3 pm. We have a quick breakfast at the usual Hotel Srinivas and head out towards Theni.
        .

        .

Initially the road was bad and it gradually got better and so did the views! We realized that looking at the tea estates is never gonna bore our eyes!
        .

        .
        A Panorama of the spot..
        .
        .
        .

We reached the Bodimettu check post and it was already close to 12 pm! We wouldnt make it to Theni and back in time for the show and decided to head back. We spent some good time there each of us gulping two large cups of tea and some oranges which Krishna bought! We already had some so-called "cornering" shots in planned which we wanted to click
        .

        .

Satisfied with it, we head back to Munnar mesmerized with the views around. I knew I'd stop a couple of times to click :bs:
        .

        .

The sky was overcast and we had just reached the room after lunch. We did not feel like entering the room...
        .

        .

After a short ride in some lonely street, it was time for the most exciting part of the day... Kathakali and Kalaripayatu.

        To be contd

Day 3 Contd : Kathakali and Kalaripayatu - Awesomeness :

We ride out in search of this place - Punarjani on the Cochin Highway. Its about 9 kms from Munnar. The price of ticket is Rs 400 per head for both Kathakali and Kalaripayatu.

The show took our breath away!! Let the pics do the talking...

First up was Kathakali. We were even allowed to view the makeup and preparation for the performance!
            .

            .

After the brilliant expression display, it was time for some desi Martial Arts action - Kalaripayatu
            .

            .

            Some fiery performances too..
            .

            .

two and half hours just flew by! We wanted more of it, but it was time to head back. We posed with the weapons and performers, thanked them for the show and bid good bye to them!. An early dinner back in Munnar and we hit the sack. The day ahead was gonna be a long one, but fun neverthless. The Chinnar and Bandipur Forests, The Kotagiri and Masingudi curves and the plans of Pollachi all awaited us!

Yes, Bangalore too... The only place that gives us the juice(read as salary ) to undertake such journeys...

Sometimes I wonder, if we weren't really doing the Monday-Friday jobs, would we be taking such vacations at all, or would life itself be a vacation without such jobs?

An awesome ride comes to an end, and me on the first long one on the CBR. I can now confidently say that I made the right choice.

            .

                              Two thumbs up!!

Completely agree. Couldn't help but smile when I saw the pic of the CD... So many of us complain about reasons to not make long distance trips."Our bikes are not comfortable enough, seat is too hard, no fairing, not enough power..."
We should all take inspiration from Nisnth and just ride!!

Btw, beautiful pics. Been planning with my friends to ride from Mumbai to Munnar...just need to arrange for leaves from work & will hit the road real soon..

Thanks for sharing. God Speed. Ride safe
