    Chennai – Goa – Murdeshwar Temple – Jog Falls – Chennai; 4 Days & 4 Nights; 2150 kms

Having a road trip with your friends during the holidays is always a dream and a memorable experience for every one of us. Here is mine!!

The riders & their machine details are as follow

    1. Venkatesh Kumar – TVS Apache RR310
    2. Sudhakar - Suzuki SF250
    3. Aditya – Husqvarna Svartpilen 250
    4. Vigneshwar – TVS Apache RR310
    5. Sashi – Kawasaki Ninja 300

Unfortunately, one of the rider SUDHARSHUN joined us during the trip upto Arcot and returned back to Chennai because of his grandpa expired.

    Rest, all things happens well.

    Total Distance Covered: 2150 Kms
    RR310 Fuel Consumed: 68.17 Ltrs (Rs 7590)
    RR310 Mileage: 31.39 Kmpl
RR310 Cruising Speed at Highways Approx. for 1500 Kms: 90 – 130 Kmph
RR310 Speed at Ghat Roads, Cities, etc Approx. for 650 Kms: less than 70 Kmph

Accurate details are not calculated for others bikes, approximately Suzuki SF250 mileage is better RR310 and Husqvarna & Ninja mileage is lesser than RR310, while maintaining the same cruising speed. All the bikes performed well in the highways, Ghat roads & cities, without any issues and we covered those 2150 kms without any hurdles.

Our plan is to have this trip only during holidays, not on working day. Accordingly we planned this on April 14th(Tamil New Year), 15th(Good Friday), 16th(Saturday) and 17th(Sunday). The below is the initial plan

15 days before the trip I just shared this plan to my friends circle, after seeing the responses from others I was in little scare about the initial plan, but somehow 5 persons are ready to join the trip. So we all prepared ourselves and decided to start the ride on April 13th night 9 PM.

April 13th & 14th: On 13th night we all met at Sri Motel Highway, Poonamallee around 9.30 PM because of high traffic in the city we are unable to reach at time. That day weather was normal, and after a small discussion we all started our journey at 10 PM. On the same day evening, 6 of my friends(Axemen Members) were also started from Maduranthakam to Goa in a car(Maruti Baleno) and a bike(Yamaha R15). So they are ahead of us during the ride to Goa.

First 90 kms upto Arcot, the road was not good and we took much time to crossed it, after crossing Arcot we stopped for a short break around 11.30 PM. During that time SUDHARSHUN got the information that his grandpa was passed away, so he decided to return back to Chennai. Now we 5 riders are here and started to continue our journey. After Arcot, the Bangalore highway road was excellent. Our bikes were cruising around 90-110 kmph in the night time. Around 2.30 AM we stopped for a break after Hosur. Picture 01 @ Hosur, Bangalore Highways

At that time we received a call from our friends(travelling from Maduranthakam to Goa) that Bangalore(outer Bypass) Nice Road was closed for bikes during night time from 10 PM to 5 AM. So we decided to pass through Bangalore city. Around 4 AM we crossed Bangalore and took a short break near Nelamangala. There was heavy rain during that time in Bangalore region, but luckily somehow we escaped there from rain.
Then we all continued our ride, the road was excellent, there was no traffic during that time and from there we able increase our speed. Around 8.30 AM we crossed Shiggaon area before Hubli, and stopped there for Breakfast. That 350 kms stretch we covered in 4 hours itself with cruising speed of about 110 – 125 Kmph.
After Breakfast, we started around 9.30 AM continued our ride, upto Hubli the road was One way(3 + 3 tracks), from Hubli to Dharwad 28 km stretch is Two way traffic (2 tracks). The road was good but full of trucks and cars. After Dharwad, the road diverted towards Goa direction, from there the road was not upto the mark and from there 100 kms upto Mollem(Dudhsagar route junction) take much time to cover, in-between 3 railway crossing are there and 50 kms are fully ups & down in the hills nearby Karnataka – Goa border. Around 12.30 PM we stopped for a break in Mollem Area(Dudhsagar route junction).

There we decided to skip Dudhsagar Falls visit because we all are almost tired and next day morning we booked for Water Sport Activities in Goa. So we don’t want to hurt our body, decided to travel towards the Oceans 7 hotel, Ashwem, North Goa(Already booked it for 2 Night stay). We started continuing the ride and followed Google map. In Goa, the roads are very small and full of traffic, because of that 3 of the following riders were missed to follow us. By seeing rear view mirror and google map we missed to notice the No Entry at Atal Setu bridge. By mistake we pass through the Atal Setu Bridge, in that bridge Two wheelers, three wheelers and bullock carts are prohibited to pass due to its height of 30 metres (98 ft) and finally we all reached hotel around April 14th 2.45 PM.

We unloaded all our luggage’s and check-in the rooms. The room was big & clean, we refresh ourselves & had bath. Afterthat we ordered food in the hotel itself and completed our lunch over there. Myself, Sudhakar & Vigneshwar stayed in one room and Sashi & Aditya occupied another room. After lunch, both Sashi & Aditya slept in the room itself, and we 3 came out and brought some snacks & went to Ashvem Beach, there we spent hardly 2 hours in the beach and returned to room. Around 8.30 PM we all went out for dinner and had good dinner in the nearby area and left for sleep in the night around 10 PM.

April 15th: For that day we booked Water Game Combo Package(Rs 2400 per person which includes Parasailing, Bumber Ride, Banana Ride, Jetski Ride, Dolphin View & Scuba Diving and also Food, Cool Drinks, Beer, etc) for 11 persons. Actually we 5 and 6 of our friends(Started from Maduranthakam) enjoyed well and had fun during that time. On that day, we got up early in the morning, packed the necessary items & started our bike and reached the Boat Jetty Area, Nerul. That’s the starting point of the Water Game Activities. The boat started around 9 AM, from there the water games starts and returned back around 5 PM dropped in the same location where we started.

After the Water Game Activities, we 5 members got separated and headed towards upper Aguada Fort around 5.30 PM and took some photos over there. Afterthat we visited lower Aguada Fort also. Then we returned to room around 8.30 PM. We refreshed ourselves and went out for food in the same restaurant where we had yesterday. After dinner, we all left to sleep in the night around 10.30 PM

April 16th: As per our plan we decided to travel towards west coast road to visit Murdeshwar temple. So we wake up early in the morning & packed all our luggage’s and Check-Out the room at 9 AM. In the nearby area, we just stopped our bike and had tea & breakfast. Around 10 AM we started our journey towards Murdeshwar temple. Because of Good Friday holidays, Goa is full of traffic and we were not able to cover much distance as per our expectation, we cruised around 40-70 Kmph speed only. After crossing Goa, from Karnataka onwards the roads are good, we increased our speed and enjoyed the ride by seeing beautiful sceneries, river, beaches, etc..

Around 2.30 PM we reached Murdeshwar Temple. Temple was normally closed in the noon and opened at 3 PM. We parked all our bikes and decided to visit the temple in 2 group so that we can safeguard our bikes & luggage’s. So myself, Sudhakar & Sashi visited first and later on other two members visited the Temple. Afterthat we took some photos over there and started searching for restaurant to take lunch. It almost 5 PM, we were in the bike riding in the same highway towards Honnavar route, in the start itself we found a vegetarian restaurant KAMAT. There food was good and we tasted sweets, doosa, etc.

After the heavy lunch we started our journey towards Jog falls at 6 PM, the first 30 kms we travelled in the same route upto Honnavar, afterthat the road diverted towards Jog Falls direction in the Sharavati river bank. Day time disappears and becoming dark everywhere while we are in the ghat road region, from there around 60 kms to reach Jog falls. Climate got changed and started drizzling, we don’t have place to stop our bike in the ghat section, we continued our ride in the dark upto Mavingundi Area(nearby Jog Falls Junction). There we stopped our bike, now time is almost 8.15 PM, so we started to search for rooms, finally got cheap/nice place to stay(Paid Rs 1400 for 2 Rooms / 5 Persons). We unloaded our luggage’s and kept inside the room, and went out for a tea shop. It’s a nice place, Climate was chill and pleasant over there. Really we all enjoyed the night ride, in the ghat road and also with drizzles. After the tea, we went back to room to take rest.

April 17th: Actually we suppose to visit Jog Falls yesterday itself as per our initial plan, but we missed it. So we wake up early in the morning and visited Jog falls around 7 AM (1st location Close to Jog Falls & 2nd Location Jog Falls Viewpoint).

After visiting the Jog falls, we returned back to Mavingundi area(nearby the room) and had breakfast over there.
Then we went to room and packed all our luggage’s & tied it in our bike and started journey towards Chennai at 10 AM. Around 2.30 PM we stopped for lunch in-between Chitradurga & Hiriyur Region and started again at 3.30 PM from there and reached Hosur at 6.30 PM.
      • Jog Falls – Ranebennur cruised around 90 Kmph
      • Ranebennur – Nelamangala cruised in-between 100 – 130 Kmph
      • Nelamangala – Hosur cruised in-between 80 – 100 kmph
Sashi his native is Hosur, he wants to visit his home and Vigneshwar his uncle is living in hosur, so both Sashi & Vigneshwar decided to go to their places and spend the night in Hosur and start back to Chennai early in the morning. Now we 3 of us(Myself, Sudhakar & Aditya), had tea over there in Hosur toll gate with them and continued our ride to Chennai. Now rain started upto Krishnagiri and we cruised around 70-80 kmph, afterthat we increased our speed around 110 kmph from there to Ranipet and afterthat we rode slowly because of road work & city traffic, finally we reached our homes safely almost around 11 PM.
