yep, I grown with motorcycles , and turned into a tourer
Long or not still now undecided :P


BTW this was not my 1st trip , it was my 1st trip on Platina125 in Vellore, I grown up with Digha (from my home 210kms)as a ODT alone or with my uncle or dad or special friend and Darjeeling,duarse (700-900kms)was my weekend place ..


Once while I was in 11th class I left to darjeeling without saying anything to my parents without my mobile phone , just took the ATM card, jacket, helmet and karizma and regular 1extra set cloths , and started journey bunking my classes after tiffin break from school on friday. When my dad found 'boro gari' (ZMA) and helmet is not there means I'm vanish for atleast 1-2 days, but even after saturday night I was not in home so they went to police station and a missing diary

Next day (monday) morning in 2nd class my dad found I am present in school (my dad is head master :P) and slapped hard on my face and said "why didn't u take ur phone ? more over that ATM account was loaded with much balance "...


And my expression was: :


Thats how I became a really long tourer, I went to Darjeeling that time (1st time on my bike)


Yep , this types of small small stories made my life and just think that time I was only 14years old...(yes , I started riding at 10years old,when I was not long enough to reach the ground from saddle :P)

In between classes I found nearly 2 hours of gap that day, so me and my friend Jatin started ride toward another Place called "Rathnagiri Temple"..
Please don't think I am religious person, i am not but in tamilnadu I found temples only everywhere but the natural beauty of the places really attracts me some time ..


The regular road was Via chennai-bengalore highway but I choose the road via villages and country roads ..

destination : kavalur observatory
distance 60kms one way,




What is so special??


The Vainu Bappu Observatory, or VBO for short, is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by Indian Institute of Astrophysics. It is located in the Javadi Hills Kavalur, near vaniyambadi of vellore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, 200 km south-west of Chennai & 175 km south-east of Bangalore. This place is also informally called "Telescope City". The nearest railway station is Vaniambadi and is about 29 km from here.


The observatory is home to the Vainu Bappu Telescope, the largest telescope in Asia.


Why it was special to me ??


Thats a sad story


The saturday, I planned to take this 100+kms ride for that day..


Took my normal winter+rain jacket, filled petrol of 200 rs in my bike and started the ride at 8am at the morning , but the problem was road, every 15mins I need to asks people about the directions and it was tough as they don't know english or hindi ,.


Some how I continued the journey , and vellore kept astonishing me in every turn I was taking, because in last 1 year in clg we have seen vellore as desert and barren land only..

though the odo reading was not correct , because before connecting the odo, I rode my bike more than 600kms ,here they dont connect before registration of my bike ..


Then I wrote a letter to the director and they allowed me to visit the observatory in special permission ..
After completing the visit I came outside parking , and took out the water bottle and drank water .


SAD STORY:
While drinking a saw a child (yep child only) riding a mighty Pulser220 huring towards me in about 80+kmph and out of control. He hit my bike from left side and I saw my new platina is about to fall and I tried to save it by holding the backside, but platina started moving and scratching the tar road for min of 20ft distance with me .


For a sec everything was stoped and I climbed on on my feet and tried to pull my bike and found petrol tank is getting wet in red blood..


I got a deep cut on my chin and blood was flowing like water, I left my bike , the people from observatory send me to their helth center and the doctor recommended to stitch ,but I was not ready, I said that I am also a med student , asked for a painkiller injection and put cotton with banded on my chin, but still now blood was dropping ..
It was horrible may be I was strong enough or as a med student I could control myself, went toward my brokem bike , found the boy was in very very bad condition and send to local hospital ..
Found front mudguard broken,scratches on windscreen and bumper(leg guard) and luggage box (dikky) ..
Started riding towards my university , reached there in another 1&1/2 hours , direct to health center , and stitch done ..


BTW that jacket saved me from any scratch on my body, so after that in each and every ride I use that jacket only , saved me for another 2-3 times ..


This was too sad story , I could not say about this incident to my parents as bike is related in this :P, but the funny part was I got another 7 days of medical leave from college and started planning for another ride ..

Valli (Tamil வள்ளி) is a Goddess and the divine consort of the prominent Hindu God Murugan, according to Hindu mythology. She represents the "Ichha Shakti" (power of aspirations), and Goddess Deivayanai depicts "Kriya Shakthi" (power of actions), and the Vel embodies "Gnana Shakthi" (power of knowledge).




As I found about this place in the wikipedia , I was waiting for a 4-5hours day time free, to travel this place ..


Me & my friend Santosh started towards this place only with the navigation from local people .
I found this place very old & historical , 500+ stairs makes it tough in summer season but thank god that time , it was raining ..

Date :5-6th november ,2011
Place : Pondichery
Distance : 180*2=360+kms total




My first 100+kms long ride on this platina 125, ..


Just after finishing my exam me & one of my senior planned to visit pondichery..


5th november after noon at 2pm we started riding toward pondichery , still that time also my bike was in run-in period ,but I didn't care cruised 100+ kmph for long long time , thank god my bike is still ok even after completing 30k kms after that ..


We reached pondi at 6pm in the evening , roamed around the city , took a budget room and stayed there at night ...




Next day morning I enjoyed the cool sea side in the morning , went to paradise beach , had a nice bath, then taken our lunch and started our coming back journey at 3pm ..


But some how in between no where petrol tank got empty , we had to push our bike long way (nearly 10kms) after that one gentle man had given us nearly 1 lit of petrol but refused to take any money ..


Reached next petrol pump , filled the tank and came back to vellore ..



look at the scratches on windshield and headlight firing (you all know the story, look at previous post)..


You can find a big L on my bike , yep till that time I was not having permanent Driving licence
....

november 13,2011:


We started towards Chittur (a.p) just for a ride and encountered heavy rain ..



riding in rain is always fun but not on 2lane highway..



our fav place to have chicken ad paratha , we can't never forget ..





me & sid towards palamathi (wrote about the place in previous posts) hills at rainy midnight,time was nearly 12..
I was an awesome experience ..



and that was me ..





another day when we were riding to chittur we found this church which is more than 400+years old (as the given info from there)

The offroad hill climb attracted me to go there lots of time ..

The exploration continues in between classes, after the college over every time when we got atleast 1hour+ time in our hand ..



this was the last point from where we left back that day ..

After that semister finises we got winter holidays and I got an awesome oppertunity to complete a short project in an GOVT institute in bangalore ..


Me & my friend ayan we both were involved in the same project ,
Me: lets take my bike and ride to bangalore
ayan:no yar, we will be having lots of luggage , take bus ..
Ok , as I was not confident that time about a 250kms long long ride so took bus and reached bangalore , and our guest house was in KR puram ..


After first 3days of working and traveling on public transport, i could easily understood thats not for me
1st satday I took bus and came back to vellore to take bike , .
After coming back to vellore filled petrol, air checked and slept as I planned to start early and another friend Santosh also wanted to join with me as he also wanted to go to bangalore ..
Morning 5am we started our journey to bangalore ..


The best ride according to my enjoyment , because after that I rode lots of kms but never enjoyed that much ..
The best view was near ambur where train line is parallel , we saw one train in half darkness of winter morning munching mile and a foggy cloud wad adding beauty to that hilly region ..

this ride was more of a low speed cruising rather than racing with others what we did in my last pondi ride , acctually I was afraid about its performance as it was longest of what I did on this bike and some other forum bikers injected lots of fear about engine failure but Atess bhaiya and some other xbhpian gave me back my courage with some tricks ..
That worked fine ..


So I was maintaining 50-60kmph and every 50kms I was taking 5-10mins break ..
Dont laugh ok, that how I evolved and thats my story of getting courage to do 1000+kms on a punny bike and even 300kms constant without any break some time ..



some how I liked the view too much ..
I have traveled in that route a lot number of times but failed to find the same view
Now a days even I rode to shoolagiri MC.d for dinner only ,but the feeling of 1st ride was different..

While staying in bangalore I got some reasons to go back to vellore for 1 day and I planned to ride , ayan's reply was also possitive .. So on road again , no pics for bangalore to vellore journey, the pics I am gonna post is again vellore to bangalore journey that also the longest way ..

20th ,march 2013 , ............


Me & sujoy da left vellore towards sholinghur at 5.30am, though that time there was lots of fogs on the way reducing the speed, whatever I was not in a mood of speeding that time ..


Ok before going into travelogue , some info about the place :


Sholinghur is a town under Walajapet taluk in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu, India. Sholinghur is very famous for the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. Sholinghur was ruled by the Chola Empire, Nawabs of Arcot and Tippu Sultan.


So it has a historical background

As we continued in a very relaxed cruising mood to enjoy cool morning weather of vellore, as we know just after couple of hours the atmospheric temp will climb like robo :P


Lots of photo breaks in between is the best way to enjoy small trips , and in this way we have captured some of the very nice view on road ..

Then we left the place and climbed down another 1305 steps and felt too hungry :P


Started towards vallimalai , in a roadside small hotel we took our breakfast ..


As this trips were not planned no prior preparation was done on bike and I could feel her loose chain (still that time I was using old chain sprocket), so went to a local mechanic shop to tighten the chain (as I can't do this job) .There a small boy of 12-13 years old boy did the job , but somehow I was feeling that the job is not proper as some wobbling issue was there but I continued ..

But somehow I missed a left turn and went towards unknown direction , while going we found a temple in making and a trail heading toward it , then what ??
I can't stop myself to be on trail road ..


But really the trail was tough for me & platina as she was carring a pillion also and the trail was simply rocks with sand and stiff climb ..


Some how she did it without much problem but I head some thik-thakkas metalic sound though I didn't cared much at that moment ..
After climbing up we a found another temple in making process , I was not interested to explore the temple and I went there for the trail ride only :P

Then we started toward vallimalai , hot humid summer started taking tool on our body and then I found some scratching sound from my rear wheel , found

tyre started rubbing against the chain cover , the cause was improper chain setting and axel nut was loose , to dangerous to ride

Somehow I though at first that my chain cover setting is not proper , so I parked the bike beside the road .

After that I removed the chain cover and fitted it again and started riding again towards vallimalai following the GPS ..


After crossing 5-6kms again it started making sound and I was very sure about the axel tightening , without any option I continued another 1-2kms and found a ASC which has Hero,Honda,Bajaj,Yamaha all types of bike inside :O
I went there and told about this wired problem , and they solved it in 5mins only and the problem was due to the wrong setting while chain tightning only ..


So we again started riding in our own speed, filled petrol again but too much scortching sun was making the problem worse , riding became too problematic for my pillion it was more tougher as he has not much of Hot riding experiences ..


But without any option we continued our ride till vilapakkam and parked our bike , consumed cold drinks and water and some biscuits and started climbing the stairs ..

After that we became real tired , actually sujoy wanted to take some rest there and start coming back journey afternoon, but I suggested to continue as this place is near to our to hostle , it would take max 45mins to reach .
So we started again in unbearable heat (weather forcast was showing 45deg ) and reached our hostel with the hope of starting of another ride .........

As I said before this log is all about the combination of my small & small logs of last 2years 2 months and 45k kms of ride on platina 125 ..
Yes I spend my days as I liked to do ..


15/6/2013 :
what was my FB status ??


Afternoon started with Test Ride of Honda CBR250r ABS , then ride to Yelagiri (120kms) reached there in only (1+1/2)hours , small travelography ,then Chicken tanduri on guardwall of a hair-pin bend while njoying beautiful glittering vaniambadi city from the top, ended up with CCD dinner and hostel .... Still now life is too good .


You, don’t have to own a bike to be a biker, but owning a bike doesn’t make you a biker either,.....
A Biker ..


Same theory applied to Sujoy , who was always super enthusiastic and ready to be on road any time ..


Sujoy was planning to get a bike and CBR250 was his 1st choice , so we decided to take a test-ride though I rode CBR250 for a quite long distance and loved it ..


After completing my morning classes I opened my bike for regular servicing , done that so a test-ride on highway was on my card only ..



clean & cute .. ready to be on road again ..


Riding to yelagiri was nothing new , its very common for me , I love to sip tea/coffie in yelagiri in the afternoon or evening ..


After taking the test ride we started toward yelagiri , very strong windblast was not letting me touching my bike's top speed , even after several tries (diff carb setting & playing with clutch play) it could manage only 87kmpl , though she could maintain 80-85kmph all the time , and non stop ride took us to yelagiri in 1&1/2 hours ....


As it was already afternoon and early evening people started going back , we entered there took some photograps ..

Then we left the place and took tea there , and suddenly we saw an shop of chicken tanduri , and ordered 2 full tanduri and some more .. (They were dam costly )
Took the parcel and planned to have that on the guard wall of u turns ..

Then we left the place , the view from there of Vaniambadi city was just awesome , though my 2mp camera was not good enough to capture them..





Then came back on road again towards vellore , in soft cruising mode , as the wind blast was not there so platina was doing 80-90kmph with ease , no speeding as my bike's headlight was never good enough (now its modified a bit and better).. Near pallikonda toll both we stopped and tried to capture some night photography (very amature)..

I could remember about a CCD on the way , rushed there had some food and cruised again towards hostel safely ..

June 11,2013
As regular we left our college to hostel and them for a small ride ..
As most of the road nearby ,we have already explored and some mugged up even (unlike exam syllabus) :P
and I always have soft corner about offroads ..
Have done countless non-road existed condition with my bike , some time riding , some time pulling or pushing also ..
So the aftereffect came was more confidence on offroads ..
We chose to continue toward known road only but suddenly after that a coconut plantation attracted us , so we left main road , into the plantation and found another parallel road continuing through the plantation ,



we continued and followed the route , was feeling like riding in Kerala, and we came to palar river bed ..



in between no where ..

It was not possible to continue as deep water






So we turned back and tried to continue another route and reached directly on the Chennai-Bangalore Highway thorough the coconut plantation again.

Long time this thread is not updated , so I came back with some stories of road again ..


Today I'll post about some different places I explored in last some days ..


In the mean time my friend Sujoy rented a honda unicorn which was not atall in good condition , we had to work a lot after 1 and 1/2 day working I found this was good to go for longer rides ..


The Route which connects chennai -bengalore highway to chittore , you can find the the RTO checkpost just before entering AP, at that moment only take left , there is a small hill with a small trail to climbup , which is not atall child's play if you want to do that on your own bike ..


Did that , found the place was too nice to see the sun set from there ..
