    Solo ride from Dombivli to Kolhapur (My Native place and back)

    Route :
    Dombivli --> Panvel -->Lonavala --> Khandala --> Satara -->Karad -->Kolhapur -->Nipani -->Gadhinglaj

    Total Distance cover : 1112 kms

    I used to read travelogue of other riders who ride to different places in India and around the world on their bike posted on xbhp. This inspire me to take a tour on my YAMAHA FZ16, I recently learn to ride motorcycle and was very excited to make long drive on motorcycle even those I had done small distance ride to mhad (Ganesh temple) near Mumbai.

    I got a leave of 1 Month from my job then I decided to use it to travel on my bike. I had very tough time to convince my wife about the same finally she gave me permission to go on ride to My native place near to Kolhapur. My leave delayed from 10 May to 15May so I had to postponed my ride to 17 May. On 16 May I went to purchase new Helmet, Gloves, and riding jacket at mulund W on link road but unfortunately the shop was closed (Thursday was their weekly holiday) anyhow I had decided to start journey on 17 May only. So I went to Ulhasnagar to get the same. I had purchase New Studd ninja 3 G Helmet, pro biking hand Gloves. I ask my garage guy to change my bike horn (stock horn on FZ is very weak) to pulsar horn, Change engine oil, also made a adjustment in signal indicator to make both indicator blink simultaneously. I took me around 9:30 in evening. I went home had my food and went to bed but could not sleep entire night due to next day’s excitement to ride on such a solo long drive.

    Day 1

    Finally that moment arrive when my mobile alarm started screaming, I got up from bed at 4:30 am and got ready, My wife help me to tie luggage on bike. My journey has started at 5:45 am.

    My fuel indicator was signaling me that my bike need petrol. I decided to fill petrol on kalyan shil phata road petrol pump but no petrol pump was open in that morning so I decided to fill petrol near panvel. Climate was cool I was cruising around at 70-80 Km on highway. I reach panvel around at 6:45 am I full my petrol tank and headed toward NH4. I was not knowing the road exactly I was continuously thinking that I should not take my bike on MUMBAI-PUNE Express way, as I remember last time when We ride to ganpatiphule with my friend I as pillion rider we had unknowingly went to MUMBAI –PUNE EXPRESSWAY and Traffic cop catch us. Fortunately my friend (rider) was a cop so Traffic cop allowed us to go without fine. And show us the right way to Gangatiphule That incident was running in my mind till I cross pune.

    I reach at lonavala around at 7:30 AM, I took a small break here to enjoy nature and take some snaps.

    I was going as per my plan I was cruising between 70-80 Kmph as My friend told me that do not cross 80+ mark, It was running in my mind so I kept my speed within that limit only. My machine was responding very well and I did not notice any engine overheating problem as My Friend who travel on their passion pro motorcycle told me that they used to take a break frequently due to engine was overheated It strike in my mind as I was riding my bike continuously (except a small break at lonaval) from 6:45 AM till 10:30 AM so I thought I should give some break to my machine so decided to take a tea break satara was just 20 Km ahead and I was as per my plan I decided not to ride between 12:00 to 2:00 as It was summer, sun may burn you out even people in our village do not work in light in these timing. I had read a news in newspaper that a farmer had died due to hot climate.

    I had my tea and other snacks and make some phone calls within 15 minutes and started my ride again. I notice that after a break my bike performance has been increase. I was having roughly 1 hours to next long break so does not wanted to loose more time in this break.
    I had taken next lunch break around at 12:00.

    Road was awesome and best thing was there was no traffic, hardly we will notice some small cars and truckwala’s, Truckwala’s was very decent they was cruising between 45-50kmph and that also in single lane so I was having too much space to overtake those vehicles safely.

      may i request that u use the 'upload images' feature on the forum to upload fotos directly & in-line within the log.
      links to ur g+ are tad cumbersome to watch as we readers have to click on them to view the content.

          Climate was cool with some fog. I was riding between 70-80kmph. Soon I notice that my fuel indicator was blinking this means that fuel is low even those I was riding it on fuel on position. Not on reserve so decided to ride till next petrol pump as petrol pump was not open after riding for few kilometer I found a reliance petrol pump which was open. I full my tank and ride to Sankeshwar which connect me to NH4 Highway. After riding for sometime I reach NH4 that was awesome. There was not much traffic on road and my bike was responding just like anything else.

          I notice a cloudy climate and thought It might rain, While on mountain I could clearly see the rain had already started in some places. But someone told me that it is not in lonaval it is too far from this place so we should not worry.

          In this snap you could clearly see the rain has pouring, It was beautiful scene to watch.
