Day 2 Lof
Trip Log :: Day 02
What we saw and heard does no justice to go around in a few hours or by photos or a few pages of text. So, please just enjoy the photos.
We were done with the puncture in a while and started off. Mine was the farthest and slowest place to reach and I reached home by 12:20 AM and already have messages from Satish & Vishnu that they reached. Hit the bed by 1:00 AM and had a sound sleep.
Approximate fuel efficiency of the bikes in this trip:
P200 - 29 KMPL
P220 - 33 KMPL
RTR - 35 KMPL
R15 - 39 KMPL
-------------------------
Yes, I already have plans to visit Hampi again. This time after a good reading into the History.

Good effort guys
I had been to Hampi on a APTDC package tour. It is indeed a very alluring and charismatic place. They local folks say it will take you upto 5 days to explore just the most famous places here. And then there are a lot more less well known things that you can explore/learn by spending more time.
Some foreigners come there and setup camp for a month or so. They pedal around on cycles from part of the town to another. They live in the town, study its history. That is the best way to do it I guess
And after you see Hampi, they say there is even more to see on the other side of the border in AP
It was a vast empire indeed - so much culture. It keeps drawing you towards it.
One more thing - as much as you people enjoyed the ride itself .. I am glad that the youth in our country appreciate the heritage and culture we have ... I feel happy that you were able to gain an appreciation for the grandeur of our history.
BTW - why such poor mileage on the P200 ? I guess nobody will be asking mileage kya hein for a R15 - and if they do ..39KPL would blow them away .

Awesome log uncle !!
If you guys come up with such excellent logs and photos of our trips - i am not ready to miss any of the future tours.
That allows me to enjoy the touring leaving the snaps and logs to you guys with confidence . My don't have the luxury of scripting logs at my office.
I can always start clicking & writing later if time permits.
Unfortunately, its the touring which might be in threat very soon....
in day one log, i am sure it was a typo error - your trip meter should have read 385 and not 485.
somehow i felt day 2 log was hurried a little....
Some points worth mentioning :
Day one night - my trip meter read - 380 kms !! Day two night - it read 760 kms...i was like
- exact number of kms to and fro !!
Imagination at work : Satish saw a place in the middle of the all the small structures and he guessed it might be a place to burn the dead bodies .... we then saw a strange looking house kind of stone structure, he then said it might be a bathroom - a bathroom of 20*15 feet size !! when we came to entrance of the so called "Bathroom", we found some clothes hanging outside
i was amazed by his wild imaginations ... of all the things in the world he saw that structure and said a place to burn dead bodeis !!!
Then how can i forget Mr Knight Rider (Kriss) runnig out of a corner - we(Kriss and me - don't know about others) were taking corners at 80 + , blind curves and in one of the curves , Kriss had just gone ahead of me during the railway gate stop and he ran completely wide on a right curve , there was no road left for him, no footpath either, small bridge had occupied the footpath... he somehow managed not to fall and hit the bridge wall - good work there !
I was mezmerized by the sculptures in Hampi.. i am planning to visit this place again with atleast two full days to explore Hampi....

Guys, I have indeed hurried up the day 2 log. I skipped the most important and the most elaborate part of it - the guided tour. This is because I am overwhelmed by the place and I cannot do justice at all with my words. Anyone interested can get hell lot of details about the place anywhere.
Also, Chaitanya, Ravi & Satish, please pick up photos from my picasa and mention some interesting text with them... I thought this makes more sense. Otherwise I'll end up writing a book.
It was the Raichur Thermal Power Station. The city is about 18 KMs from the RTPS and this one is seen from AP itself (in fact, the photo you saw there was shot from AP).Originally posted by nabendubasu View Post@kriss:which thermal power station is that? And river is there just few kms after the plant can you name the river?
The river is Krishna river.
Bugger, you get drinking water at your residence from the same river. Shame on uOriginally posted by kriss View PostThat was Raichur Thermal power station. And the river ?? No idea man. Forgot it. Will search and pm you.
Sandeep, you are correct. Vijayanagar is the largest metropolis in Indian History and possibly the richest too but that is dwarfed by the fact that this kingdom developed so much of our culture and arts that we can feel and see today... sadly, the metropolis stands demolished!Originally posted by Sandeep_K_Ram View PostAnd after you see Hampi, they say there is even more to see on the other side of the border in AP

BTW - why such poor mileage on the P200 ? I guess nobody will be asking mileage kya hein for a R15 - and if they do ..39KPL would blow them away .hmmm... I thought 39 average on the R15 is less as I rode pretty sedate compared to my regular rides and I have got much better mileage earlier with constant 110 - 120 + kmph driving. Also going by what many of our members are getting. Thanks Sandeep. Low mileage for p200 ?... no idea man. It was fully accelerated all the time. Look at p220...its 33. May be bajaj has to answer this...
Kriss had low pressure in his tyres for half the distance on day 1 and before our ride ended on day 1 his front tyre was leaking air (two bends on the alloy!). Also, upon entering Karnataka he started ripping at full thorttle. As such, I wasn't aware of a P200 giving much better mileage
Kriss, P220 has FI and also with the higher amount of power it can maintain 110 or 120 KMPH with much ease than the P200.
