Preparing for the ride….
INSPIRATION was always there….though an inactive xBHPian, I was reading all the blogs on getting Leh’d! The Ladakh Guide on Max.xBHP was like bible for my ride; all that I needed was there….information from the bikers who already got Leh’d; road condition from the offline meets and some more browse through travelogues gave enough confidence to my plan. Probably a hundred changes to this itinerary and plan but at the end! only 50% of it followed….:-D

On 10^th anniversary Hyderabad meet up, I was excited to open up my plan and tie up with fellow riders for this ride. Expected! A brotherhood response from all, some checking on the tentative itinerary and some wishing me for the best to come…
Out of concern from my family and friends, everyone was asking me to transfer the bike to Delhi and ride from there but I wanted this ride to be a different experience! Travelling through different states, seeing beautiful nature….So decided to ride through all the distance…I have done some solo rides before like to Goa, Gokarna, Shirdi and places within Andhra Pradesh so the experience was there…
Day 1: Hyderabad to Bhopal:
Distance covered: around 790 kms
Travel duration: 16 hrs
Dedicating this ride to Freedom, with Indian flag on bike, riding gears on, in raining, a family send off….I took off on highway NH7. Just about few kms outside city, rained had stopped I was loving cold early morning breeze. For the first 300 odd kms, ride was a cake walk. But as I entered Maharashtra then MP…roads were hardly there…just big pot holes! And it took me to a surprise that I was still on NATIONAL highway! Constant bumpy ride was giving a tough time to my upper shoulder, with minor adjustment to riding position helped me a lot….just tried to keep my back straight and forearm parallel to ground….reached my first destination Betul by 4:30 pm, as the sun was still quite high in sky I continued hoping I can reach Bhopal. Roads ahead were much more horrible and I had to call off the ride for the day around 20-30 kms before Bhopal. A night halt at Dhaba. Pics of day...

Day 2: Bhopal to Jaipur
Distance: Around 600 kms
Travel time: 15 hours

Back on bike at 5 am, headed towards Bhopal, road condition was the same…too bad to ride on. Bhopal by pass was nice and smooth but it didn’t last for longL, road soon after that was more horrible and still a lot of traffic including busses and lorries, running fast and throwing muddy water on everyone. I started having upper shoulder pain again and it was getting too difficult to ride. As far as I remember…I was riding at 30-40 kms per hour and with this speed I would not reach Jaipur. I was impatiently desperate to ride on good road. Was checking with people every 5-10 for the road ahead and everyone had the same answer “road tho bass essa he hai aage”. Someone suggested me a 40-50 kms diversion and said that from there it will be a 4 lane road on Kota – Jaipur highway – THANKS to him! As I approached 4 lane highway, I was feeling relieved, it was around 1 pm already. More about 300-350 kms to Jaipur, though the highway was under construction at many places, I was able to maintain 50 kms per hours and reached Jaipur at around 8 pm. Tried to contact Shady but he was out due to family emergency. Few beers, dinner and crashed on bed!

Day 3: Jaipur visit and Bike service
Had plans to get the bike serviced at Amritsar but from previous day’s experience, I preferred to get it serviced at Jaipur itself. Went around and saw Birla temple and by then my bike was readyJ. Saw all the favorite places, Amer ka killa, Hawa mehal, jal mahal, Jantar Mantar and museum; had local street food…delicious! In last 2 days I felt I have wasted quite some time checking with people on directions, especially during early hours and nights while passing through small towns. So bought a cell phone holder and placed it on wind shield of my bike, used GPS on phone.

Thanks for sharing the part travelogue... waiting for the remaining travelogue from Jaipur to Leh and back..... please share the experience which is a guidance for the fellow xBhpians to plan a trip....
