  • [Photo Feature]: Beat the Heat - Short PhotoLog of Lucknow Ride

A biker does not need a reason to ride, his freewill and desire to explore the unknown..takes him to the every corner of the world. The statement does not complement the ride i did,but the statement is true in every sense.

Well,I had a strong reason to do this ride.My close friend from College days was getting slaughtered in Lucknow and i didn't wanted to miss the cooking ceremony and the tasty Kebab made out of him (The Bakra). But then who got deep fried in this entire process is another story. Before starting for this ride there were 50-50 chances that i will do the Lucknow trip by bike, mainly because of the killer heat in North India in month of MAY.But then i was wanting this ride to happen,so i waited and waited..and exhausted all my options for travelling to Lucknow.

After finishing my office work i started from Noida at 06:00 PM in the evening.I took the Greater Noida-Agra-Kanpur-Lucknow route which was very good 4 lane road all the way till Lucknow.Even though i started in the night, temperature was close to 40 degrees.I rode entire night with few breaks and reached Lucknow in the morning around 6 AM.Yamuna Expressway till Agra was bliss to ride and toll fee for the 168 KMS of fun was 160 bucks. But there weren't any fuel pumps on the highway, you have to go off from the highway to get refueled.

Life Saver in the night rides

Finding the Ayodhya Hotel where the function was about to happen, was an easy job. After the tiring ride and due to immense heat,i was smelling like a dog due to the sweat.Took shower had breakfast and crashed to bed.By the time i woke up,it was afternoon..very odd time to explore the City.

Woke up in the afternoon and went to Bada Imambara.

Bara means big, and an imambara is a shrine built by Shia Muslims for the purpose of Azadari. The Bara Imambara is among the grandest buildings of Lucknow.
Bara Imambara was built by Asaf-ud-Daula, Nawab of Lucknow, in 1784. It is also called the Asafi Imambara.

Bhool Bhulaiyya - Wasn't impressed by the magnitude of it :/

And the topmost level of Imambara

I came out and took the Tanga Ride.30 Min for 50 bucks.Quite a deal .But you had to visit a Chickan cloth Shop with whom they must be having a setting.Similar concept i saw was in Thailand, where the AutoRikshaw(TukTuk) takes you for the round of the city in cheap fare with a promise that you have to visit few shops with whom they had tie-ups.

Lucknow is famous for THE CHIKAN WORK .It is a kind of embroidery that has been a part of India in the designs with threads with detail work.

The Rumi Darwaza also known as the Turkish Gate.It was built under the patronage of Nawab Asaf-Ud-dowlah in 1784.

The heat was taking toll on me and the rest of the gang had arrived,so i have to return to the Hotel for re-union and some fun.

Some snapshots from the evening after the customary Barati Dance.

    And the Happily Married Couple.

Return to Noida was as quick as the onward journey, but more painful as the previous one because i started back in the middle of afternoon. Thanks to the LASSI,which kept me going

    Cheers
