Wow. Too good. Mind blowing. Both the travelloge and the pictures. And common, you don't expect us to believe you did not have any prior experience in using a DSLR !!! No way, im not believing you!!! Pictures look like the work of a professional! Btw, do shed a light on the lens you used for such beautiful pics and any source from where i can check out these pics with their EXIF data intact?

I take that as a compliment
.. I have used only one lens to shoot all of the pictures in Bhutan and that's the kit lens 18-55 that came with the camera.

Hmmmmm, its the stock kit lens, i don't think its appreciated much for its zooming capabilities.I have a canon 550dOriginally posted by ArnabC View PostVarun: 18-55 is one of the best zoom lens you'll get for the Nikon DX format DSLRs...it's widely appreciated...
I was just so enthralled by Tariq's picture, i thought maybe he used another lens, a 70-300 or maybe a wide angle lens ? Pictures like these with a 18-55 just gives me more confidence and motivation

Varun ,18-55 is a pretty decent lens overall and capable of taking some very good pictures.Originally posted by joshi.varun91 View PostHmmmmm, its the stock kit lens, i don't think its appreciated much for its zooming capabilities.I have a canon 550d

And hey how'd you research about the permits, the places to visit etc etc. You seemed to be very well versed with all the details!

Trust me, Varun, 18-55 is really in good in comparision to the kit lens I got with my D7000, 18-105. I used 18-55 with my DSLR and the pics really came out well and much better in terms of quality. Ofcourse zooming is not a plus point but the other things like Depth of Field, spot focussing, fast response etc. is really better than many Nikkor zoom lens. On the other hand 70-300 is a FX format lens and is awesome.Originally posted by joshi.varun91 View PostHmmmmm, its the stock kit lens, i don't think its appreciated much for its zooming capabilities.I have a canon 550d

As per the permits, we Indians have a real advantage here. We will just need a photo ID and that's it. And being from Kolkata helped Tariq a lot as you'll get information about Bhutan and the places to visit there, due to the proximity.Originally posted by joshi.varun91 View PostAnd hey how'd you research about the permits, the places to visit etc etc. You seemed to be very well versed with all the details!

Re: Bhutan- Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350.Solo
Yes sir, i guess us amateurs underestimate the power of a 18-55. I myself get no time to click any pictures nor go for long rides. This is highly attributed to me not able to prioritize my life goals, which always seem to shadow my plans for my hobbies. Nevertheless, Leh-Ladakh, Bhutan and Zuluk are on the top of my lists for a roadtrip.Originally posted by ArnabC View PostTrust me, Varun, 18-55 is really in good in comparision to the kit lens I got with my D7000, 18-105. I hope i realize my dreams eventually, and then i'll surely bug you and tariq with a lot of queries

Hi Varun and Arnab !
I got all the information from a genius called "Google" .
I didn't bother checking about places to visit etc , I don't like going to "Tourist spots" , Taktsang hike was a priority , everything else just happened on the way.
Arnab - Send me your 18-105 , I ll send you my18-55 , deal ?
