It has been since long I posted a travelogue over here. Increased work pressure as well as riding took lot of time out of my shedules.
This is the travelogue of our last ride to Gujarat. Before going to the travel details, would like to give the background of the trip and the preparation for the same ride.
My annual ride to Kolkata during Durga Puja got cancelled due to some unforeseen issues and disturbances in AP. There were few small rides of 2000 km and 1000 km range that I have been doing in every month. But, Rann of Kutch have been there in my mind since long back. In November-2013, I went for a southern India ride of 2500 km and the quest to explore ROK has started after that. The planning become for focused once the annual meet for HVK Forum got fixed in ROK. Though due to some committments back in office did not allow me to attend HVK meet this year, I thought of preponing this ride by one week.
I have been in touch with few great tourers of India, whom I admire a lot. Riding with them gives me lots of learning and value addition to me as a rider. Have been fortunate to be closely associated with Bharadraj Dayala Sir, Kaleem Sir and few other great tourer. It was on my mind to ride with Major Sir (Major Venugopal from Kovai)since long back. Major has been my source of inspiration since the time I met him. A true youngster at heart and a great gentleman, Major, has joined me on this ride on his modified 500 cc Bullet. Ride plan was made and I gave a call to Major and the ride was finalised. Major was to travel to Mangalore from Coimbatore and stay at my place for the first night. The plan was to start on the next day early morning and reach Pune.
Day1:
Coimbatore-Mangalore: 450 Km
Not much of details available since Major did this part solo and he was stuck in bad traffic jam in Kasargod-Mangalore stretch. He reached Mangalore at 9 pm and we headed towards my place for the day break. Luggages packed and we waited till the sunrise....
