    A Drive to the Kolli Hills.

    Here is a short write-up of a trip I personally undertook in the month of January A group of 9 guys rode from Bangalore to Nallathambi Resort, Kolli Hills. Kolli Hills Road is famous for having around 70-75 hair pin bends in a drive of around 10 KM.


    The Bikes which we took are listed as follows:
    1. Bajaj Pulsar 200NS.
    2. KTM Duke 390.
    3. Bajaj Avenger 220.
    4. Thunderbird TBTS(New Model).
    5. Thunderbird TBTS(Old Model).
    6. Bullet Classic 350CC.


    So we had around 1900cc of absolute gems with us for a day ride of around 320 kms.
    The route we undertook is Depicted below:

    1. Bangalore to Salem.


    2. Around the Salem City. Trust me it's important as I got lost here...



    3. Salem To Foot of Kolli Hills.



    4. Hair Pin Bends to be tackled on the hills.



    The Plan was for us to leave Bangalore before 5 AM. But Like all thing Indian, we were delayed by around 20 Mins and So started from SilkBoard at around 5:30 AM. We took the Electronic city flyover out of the city and then proceeded leisurely towards Hosur. We had planned on taking a break at the McDonalds just ahead of hosur and so the 5 Bikes( All except 390) broke off into 2 groups and went on. Me and my Friend(Thunderbird TBTS new model) reached there around 6:15 and waited for others to arrive. We had a small impromptu photo-session with our Bikes and while we were having a cup of coffee, the others arrived. Some time here was taken by mutual introductions as we never had any time to catch-up before. There we came across an Issue with the Classic 350, as it was simply refusing to go above 70kmph as the pressure in gas casket was not building up. This was the reason they were going a bit slow. We stayed there till 7 and then proceeded forward. Again breaking into two groups...

        A few images out of these are taken by my friends.

        Road conditions:

        The overall road condition was exemplary in the ride. Road from hosur onwards till the foots of kolli hills was an absolute bueaty. Not even one speed breaker. The average riding speed that we were able to maintain was in excess of 75kmph. Though due to frequent stops and getting Lost in the middle of the journey, the travel time was quite high.

        Bikes:

        All the bikes were simply exemplary in the tour. I on an NS was a bit skeptic as it was the first time I was taking it on such a long trip, but the performance simply blew our mind away. The thunderbirds and the Bullet classic took everything in their stride and came out tops. The duke behaved exemplary except that because of the small tank capacity, we were worrying far too much. Avenger performed exceedingly well and was a gem as far as the overall comfort was concerned.

        The only Bike related Issue we had was the pressure not building in the bullet classic and Rear seat of 200NS being a ***** for my pillion.

        Drive:

        I am completely at loss to describe the last 10 km of our on-wards and 10 km of our returning journey. the bends were fun, exhilarating, dangerous and excitement all rolled into one. The terrain was challenging, conditions tough, drivers tired and road all full of bends. Fortunately for us, everything went well and we were at the resort at 1:30 PM.

                  Regarding the resolution, it was a very old trip and the pics have mostly been sourced from here and there. I did not have any other option or else I'd have not gone this way. Again a big sorry for yhat too.

                          On R15, You'll surely enjoy those curves. But I'd suggest a rainy season for visit.
                          While we were returning, there was quite a bit of drizzle and we really enjoyed ourselves a lot.
