So it's been a year since i got married and both of us celebrated our wedding anniversary last month. Since my wife is from Sikkim she couldnt visit her parents for one whole year and she just decided to do that. Since i was single for one whole month i decided to do this trip. Actually the day she said she was going i had decided on the trip.
Valparai and Athirapalli was high on my list since i've never done that. At the same time my dear friend and his wife from mumbai decided to drive down to Munnar. So i decided to club the trip with them. So my plan was,
Kasaragod>Coimbatore>Valparai>Athirapalli>Munnar>T hekkady>Kasaragod.
I was expecting a wet ride, so had taken all the required gear, and fixed the tyre hugger just for that, but turned out to be a dry ride all the way except a bit of shower in Munnar. So on June 1st i took off.
The ride till Calicut was as usual but after that the i started experiencing the southern culture of kerala which is so beautiful. All the while i was enjoying and riding my b@#$s out i come under the radar of Kerala police for speeding. had to pay Rs 500 and continued my journey towards Coimbatore. reached my destination at around 6.00 pm and rested for the night knowing that the best was yet to come tomorrow...

The next day i left Coimbatore at around 7am and headed towards Valparai. Stopped for breakfast at a joint and i must say the idlis they served were out of this world. Thanked the owner who was interested in my ride and gave me some useful advice. Even though i've seen many fellow riders pics of Valparai and Athirapalli when i experienced it myself it was mind blowing. When i first saw the mountains it was a great emotion. After that the madness began. Climbing up the first sector was so much fun i almost forgot to take pics.

Re: In search of greener pastures...
My destination was Munnar for the day. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole ride till i reached the end of Athirapally check post. Had lunch and continued my journey towards Angamally when it started pouring. Reached Munnar by 8.30pm and met my friends. Had a nice drink and crashed off since there was no riding next day.

Re: In search of greener pastures...
The next day it was fun and games. We three started exploring Munnar. Went through tea estates and spice gardens. The best part about Munnar is one one side of the hills they have tea estates and the other side, it's spice garden. When you are getting used to the beauty of tea estates out of nowhere the landscape changes and you feel as if you are in a different world altogether. We spent the whole day outdoors and reached back to the hotel in the evening. Next day we were heading out Thekkady which was around 100kms ride.

So we started off to Thekkady and i was again very happy to find very good roads. One thing i like about this route is you feel totally relaxed, thanks to the greenery around combined with smooth tarmac. Rode half way through and had lunch at a small local joint. Kerala meals and fish fry, nothing like it. Continued to Thekkady and checked into the hotel. Went for an elephant ride and some show. Unfortunately i didnt have the time to stay for one more day, so missed the boat ride.
