CBR Twins and the Twisties
CBR Twins and the Twisties
As the Summer sets away to fall, weather started to change with the mercury level dipping down. With another month or so for a ridable season, roads are spanned by motorcycles during the weekend. Me at the other hand was trying to block a motorcycle other than Harley during the weekends which was seeming to be a nightmare this time - was able to manage CBR 250's for me and my friend. We charted out a simple ride plan - Take the river across the Hudson river in New Jersey, ride through the state parks and end ride at greenwood lake - then take the return route along Hudson river via New York.
All set and i started by 7am from home - stopped at a dunkins (our meeting point) - Mohan arrived and we grabbed some hot black coffee to spark our minds from the chilly weather. Once refreshed we hit the road and our first stop was a boating launch from where the River road starts. It was a quick stop with couple of pictures and then we are on river road riding through a hilly terrain with twisties, up and downs amidst the trees, stopped here and there - wherever we wanted to click some pictures and reached the Tallman state park. pictures enroute to first break.
After a good break for the wrists and a photo session of the camping place, we set the gps co-ordinates to the Greenwood Lake. It was mix of highways and state park roads we reached the waterfront area of Greenwood lake. We had an option of doing a circle around the lake but we deferred it as it was past 12pm and stomach started to growl - my friend wanted to have rice for lunch :-) Now where to find a place which would serve Indian food - we googled for place and luckily found a temple which was 45 minutes ride from where we were. Fixed that place expecting the temple will serve some prasadham. Ride from there on was again through some hilly roads which reminded me of the roads of munnar and wayanad. We reached the temple and my friend was happy to see the spread of Sweet Pongal, Pongal and Curd rice. gobbled up our tummy full and relaxed for a while and started our ride back home with next pit stop across the Hudson river at Peekskill New York crossing a nicely constructed bear mountain bridge.

Took a break and was trying to click the road, when the Mustang pounced onTwisties and twsities all the way to bear mountain bridge and once we crossed the bridge stopped at a scenic view point - took few pictures. oops - forgot one thing, was using the Sony action cam on wrist and hope took some decent pictures. as I write this am yet to see how the picture and video has turned out. once i get the copy from my friend will upload them here. Ok now where i was, ya took some pictures and started our ride back downhill and through the highway to New York city and was on time reaching the rental place to give back the bike. On a whole it was a wonderful ride, with fantastic weather - one more riding day came to an end. Thanks for your time reading and seeing post.

Wonderful rides and brilliant pictures which surely tell us how enjoyable each riding day should have been. As a bonus the weather also seems perfect.
Thanks for sharing & looking forward to more installments.

Thought of Meeting up with Riding buddies back from Chennai sparked and was put into action. Travelled 700 Miles just to ride with the riding buddy to get the feel of riding like back in India and it was all worth it at the famous 'Tail of the Dragon'. With 3 other colleagues joining us in a Car (we called it as Support vehicle

Relaxed Ride on Moto Guzzi and Monster
After Riding up on the Dragon the thrist got more and with a pleasant weather forecast for the weekend blocked 2 bikes. Moto Guzzi v750 and Ducati Monster 786 for me and my friend last weekend. Route was a simple - take highway for 10 and exit on to a Millstone byway which runs along the canal, later joins scenic byway (country roads) with farmland and big estate home on etiehr sides of the road. US206 route ended up at the River Road which is along the Delaware river border line for New Jersey and Pennsilvaniya. Rode along the river, did a short loop to cross across the Metal Crossing Bridge to PA and then come back through another metal bridge to NJ. Post entering back to NJ, visited the Washington Crossing State Park - clicked some pictures. By this time sun was way over head which means time for lunch. Rode to a food join had some burgers and lemonades to quench the thirst and rode back home relaxing over the same byway route back.
