Congrats on the first long ride. hows the road from mangaon phata to shrivardhan? when i visited last month i took the road from goregaon phata which had some really bad patches. i wonder if your route was better. did you take the coastal route to alibag or did you ride 50km's back to nh17 and take the diversion to roha?

Goregaon phata is usually bad. U should take Sai ghat road, which is closer, as well as in top shape for the most part.

                triplog

I started from my dindoshi flat @ 4.50 AM , I was expecting some cold , but not the kind of cold it was. Woke up @ 4 , answered nature's call, and packed myself up, with gloves et al, I was pretty excited.

Started the bike at first crank, sometimes I feel awkward about the fact that the thing does not have a kick start , I personally wanted one. I had expected lesser cold in the arrey/jogeswari stretch but it was suprisigly cold , temp range in early 20, ( that is what the timex watch showed.)

western mumbai was a breeze, I breezed pass a gang of bikers , possibly XBHP members, looked like they were going on a ride, too.

Stopped @ the Macdonald's @ kalamboli for a pee break, did not rip the bike at all, was in the 60-65 range on the speedo console.

The fun started after I crossed panvel, it got so cold that I could not beileve that I was somewhere near mumbai which is notorious for its heat and humidity. The temp kept dropping and dropping and @ one point of time, it was 8 degrees, on the highway, stopped over @ pen and had a smoke as it was just too cold and my hands and feet shivering badly. My complaint of me not enjoying cold beacause of staying in mumbai was not there anymore.!!

it was early morning and the FZ standing in front of the tapri was quite a sight and the locals were just leching and ogling her.!!

from here on the sun was up and just giving light, no heat whatsoever, the cold did not allow me to increase my speed more than 70, as the wind was just getting to me.

Here something stupid happened, like an idiot I missed the left at vadkhal and went straight to alibaugh..!! I was sensing something had gone wrong... but did not again stop til civilization.. at alibagh, I had a tea and asked the chaiwalla for the highway, he was just staring at me as I came from some other country, he said that vadkhal was 25kms behind me.!!

I was stunnned by dis one.. and headed back to the turn and here is where I addded the extra fifty to my odo meter. Now the cold was lessening into a breeze and I flew off from here on the NH 17, traffic was scant and this was the first time I crossed 80, then 90, then 95, but the roads were not allowing me the increase it further.

The fifth gear of the FZ is just like a cruize gear , shifting speeds is slow and difficult , so u have to shift down to overtake. The handlebar and the riding postion gives you an amazing feeling of control, and not to mention the tyres, in this ride I took the small twisties, with so much confidence because there was not the slightest hint of the tyre not having traction on the road. It is just rock solid, and you can actually perform the manevoures that are a part of moto GP races.

Came to mangaon, and from here to shrivardhan are some really awesome twisties. Let me tell you guys, if any one is a little crazy about the twists and curves..... this is the road for you... 90 degree blinds, hairpin turns, zig zag , and all coupled with a butter like smooth and empty road .. this strecth was most fun in the ride to shrivardhan.

Great ride. How come such a low mileage? It doesn't look like you traveled at high speeds too!

                      Great ride there buddy,

your babe looks hot no doubt on that, I know you must have thought a lot before deciding on FZ,

but you know if u start touring more, very soon you might end up loosing interest in FZ.

Just my opinion you did't think abt R15 ....coz at speeds of 55-60kmph the R15 engine is literally sleeping...and 100kph it wakes up and mind you the fairing helps a lot at high speeds.

I am not trying to boost abt R15, it's just- i feel very soon you will join the touring club.

                        hey thanks dude..

i truly gave it a lot of thought.. i dont have that much idea about R15.. have not ridden it. but yes.. the fairing matters then.. i did not travel at high speeds.. took the time to adjust to the ergonomics ..

but one thing is for sure... this itch is going to come to haunt me again and again.. the touring itch...!

pls tell me whether the DSG jackets and gloves are really worth .. planning to buy that also.. depending on the extent of kadki.!

Nice trip there... pictures of empty road are real inviting..

All the best for your Pune trip...Hope to see u soon on rides with Mumbai fellas..

Bout DSG jacket n gloves.. I haven't yet got DSG jacket for myself but I own DSG gloves and they are pretty worth every rupee(just my opinion) and almost all the mumbai riders(to whome i've met yet) own DSG jackets and they r pretty happy with it.. The same kadki factor has kept me away from the jacket yet...Rs.5000 onwards..
