Diveagar Ride on 16th November:

I met my friend Aniruddha Shinde at the Kalamboli McDonalds at around 7:15 a.m. and started on the NH4 towards Khalapur. NH4 is super smooth but you have to be careful for the speed breakers near villages along the highway.

Breakfast was Misal Pav at our usual place near Chowk, on the cross-roads. After taking a right towards Khalapur to reach the Khopoli Pali Road (the road towards Adlabs Imagica), we continued till Pali. The road from Khalapur till Adlabs Imagica is bad, infact very bad but then its a decent road till Pali with intermittent bad patches.

Taking a left turn at Pali, we continued on the State Highway that goes to Patnus, the internals roads are in good condition and can take you directly to Mangaon (you may have to ask the locals for directions sometimes just to be sure).

                  Somewhere before Mangaon:

We have to take a left on the NH17 in Mangaon and the next right to get on to the road that goes to Shrivardhan via Morba - Sai villages. The road till Morba is ok with some bad patches but after that the ghat road is again in bad state, you continue on the main road to reach Mhasla village (if you want to go to Shrivardhan beach, you can take the bypass to avoid riding through Mhasla village, the road again is bad but better than the Mhasla village road). After you enter Mhasla, there is a right to go to Diveagar beachwhich is around 20 kms from there, decent roads.

You reach a junction where right goes to Velas beach (famous for Olive Ridley Turtles) and the left goes to Diveagar. Once you enter Diveagar, there are many roads that will lead you to the beach. You can ride or drive on the beach and its a good experience, also there is a variety of sports that you can try out like boat ride, banana ride, power scooters, parasailing etc. We tried the parasailing which costs Rs. 300/- per head.

The experience is great, you feel like a kite, tied to a rope and a jeep pulling you

Plenty of homestays and hotels at Diveagar with home cooked food but we weren't hungry so we carried on the coastal road to Shrivardhan and man, that road is beautiful with hills on one side and Arabian Sea on another.

                  Here are few pics:

We had lunch on a hotel called Siddhi Hotel on the road back towards Mangaon.

On return we decided to take the NH17 till Vakan Phata as it is a faster option than the internal roads but NH17 is not notorious without reason, you have to be careful as the construction is going on and everybody is in a hurry.

From there back on the Pali Road till Khalapur and NH4 to come back home.

Total distance covered - 426 kilometers

Made a small video of the ride, hope you guys enjoy it:

Diveagar Ride was fun.. Perticularly the streach between Shrivardhan and Diveagar. Hills on one side and Sea on the other what a view.. It was truly refreshing view I have ever seen, It makes me forget all the bad roads we faced to reach there, and Parimal Bhai come up with some awesome photography. I remember that spider pic, we spent good 15-20 minutes that place and the result was worth it.
Very Great Pics Parimal Bhai.. and I love Vaitarna Pics also just great..

This weekend was the celebration of my 8th anniversary and it was spent at Matheran!!

                          Route and Road Status:

NH4 till Chowk - Smooth Roads, nothing to complain apart from some ill-placed speed breakers

Right from Chowk to reach Karjat - Bad - 4 laning in process so diversions and generally bad road

Right from Karjat to reach Neral - Decent roads with some bad patches and some patches with too many speed breakers

Just 1 kms before Neral, there is a left from where the Ghat road starts to reach Matheran - 9 kms of steep ghat with some of the steepest hair pin turns - drive carefully and avoid in dark, headlights won't help..

The you reach Dasturi Point Car Parking, as Matheran is a eco city and no motored vehicles are allowed inside. The touts, horse fellows, rickshaw fellows, coolies will get behind you from when you enter the parking lot and will tell you all the lies in the world to get you to use their services, please do not listen to them. Trains are available from Aman Lodge which is only 5 mins walk from Dasturi Naka and the whole 3 - 4 km walk to Matheran market itself is not very tiring, shortest route is to follow the rail tracks..

                          Enough talking now the pics:
