Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

Of course you should go there. You will not believe India can build such fenced roads for long stretches. I am sure you will love it.

Re: Bangalore to Hampi -> Independence day trip

Looking for a break, as most of the people do on weekends in bangalore, after cancelling at least 4-5 destinations(both car and bike trips) we finalized for this trip.
As it happens with virtually every group on earth, we also had a potential party spoiler, whom I had to get in the trap. At the end, somehow manged to get him in with perks

To start with, I love to do bike rides, but I have never been a prepared rider for trips. With just around 1 lakh kilometers under my belt, truly speaking I have never ever done a ride with gear on(except helmet and goggles). Maybe it was due to student life, carelessness etc. But from now on, as I am planning for Ladakh next year, trying to become a responsible rider. Also, I am not a great photographer, I just like to click whatever comes in the way, but this is how it goes with me

So this trip started on Fri, 15th august.

Having packed on Thursday night with one backpack each, we were all set to leave next morning. Come 3:15 am, I had a hard time getting the love birds, who had been talking all night long over phone, on track. Done with morning stuff, we left at 4:15 AM with overflowing tanks and confidence.

A quick grab of the wheels :

Skies were dark, and it was like freezing out at 4. The plan was to ride for at least 1 hour at a stretch and then take breaks. Hence we started from our apartment in doddanekkundi and headed on outer ring road towards tumkur road. Upto yesvantpur, we were slowed down by numerous trucks and took 40 mins to reach the nelamangala flyover.

Once we got onto the flyover, AHA, wings !! Wheels and wrists started rolling and we were doing 95-105 kmph. We felt these numbers thrilling and tried to slow down keeping in mind safety(what the hell !) since the headlights from the other direction made it almost impossible at places to see the roadand we were not aware of the road conditions. But you will not believe the average speed we clocked while returning from chitradurga to bangalore(more on that later). At places, tested the high speeds of bikes - since we were running heavy, FZ managed to do a max of 116 kmph at full throttle, apache reached 118(again, we had to slow down due to visibility problem).

Aaand the roads - just one word, Incredible. I don't remember when I last saw a superbly fenced highway(most of it runs upto chitradurga and further). Upto tumkur, it is a 4 lane highway, after that lanes run 6/4 alternatively at places. Last I drove on a highway like that was on GT road from Gaya to Kolkata, where we did 148 on a scorpio. But that too was not fenced like this.

So after 1 hour and 35 minutes of freedom, we desperately needed a butt break. Pulled over somewhere before tumkur for tea and snickers.

Now, change of riders, and we continued. Decided to do a next stop in chitradurga, which was another ~98 kms.

After crossing tumkur, we started searching for some decent breakfast joint, but couldn't find any on the left hand side. The kamat was on the right hand side, which we missed.

It was getting brighter with time :

Yes, you saw it right - it is a SB-1. But again, I was not a brace and go rider until now

As we neared chitradurga, we saw so many windmills over the hillocks before the town and decided to get a quick break just on the outskirts. The clicks over there follow.

By this time, clouds were on the job and we feared rain. Evidence :

After some snaps, we started and reached the Chitradurga fort by 7:45. The weather was beautiful by that time and we could see children running around everywhere getting prepared for Independence day celebrations. What a wonderful sight ! Childhood memories came as a flashback. We also managed to participate the flag hoisting at the mighty fort.

That is all for today since it is getting late. Rest in next post. Forgive the technicalities in the snaps.
            Thanks for reading, bbye !
