Krishna da, very nice travel log. I could completely related to the landscape, as I am from Bangladesh, so every picture looked as if it was my own land and I have been through there numerous times. This is what I love specifically, the rural landscape. My favourite places outside of Dhaka (since I still dont have a bike so never crossed more than 50km up an down on bicycle) are these types of rural areas where folks are simple and enthusiastic about travelers.

Re: My ride to Hemngar, Sunderbans - Where Forest Meets The Rivers.

Went back to Hemnagar a few weeks back. Saw a lot of changes. Roads have become better. Smartphones have penetrated even such remote places.
This time, I managed to bring back a kg of honey. And by honey, I mean the purest honey one can imagine - straight from the jungles of the mighty Sunderbans. No preservatives, no glossy stickers - nothing. The person from I bought the honey from goes to the jungle for honey, crab and fish every month like many others who do not have any other means of income. In the jungle, many has seen their friends and members of families taken away right from the front of their eyes - by the Royal Bengal Tiger. Many more such deaths happen every year than reported in the media. The family is very poor and it was visible from the dilapidated state of their hut. I have forgot his name but he stays around 150 meters from the Hemnagar jetty.

I managed to visit another place call Samsernagar. It's even more remote and forms the most eastern part of the Indian side of Sunderbans. No, you'll not find this place in Google Maps - this place is not added there yet. I've tried to give an idea of the location via the screenshots of maps.

It's a place where people live side by side to the Tiger and other wild animals separated only by a fence and very narrow stretches of extensions of rivers(In Bengali, this is called Khari). To get there, one needs to take a diversion from Jogeshganj Market(on Hemnagar Dulduli roard) and it's a 17 km. road from there. Almost 7 km of that stretch is in very bad condition. But once one gets to Samsernagar 4 number block, the reward is worth the trouble endured. You can just sit back and enjoy the entire day just by looking at the mighty river. A very calm and serene place. One word of caution though - one should always carry a valid ad original photo identity proof as this is a border area and the BSF can ask for an identity proof.
Here, cultivation of honey and fishing is the most viable source of income. It's not a place a regular tourist would like to visit. In Kolkata, yo'll find numerous travel agencies promising you 'Sunderban Tour'. What you'll get is a bus ride to maybe Godkhali/Jharkhali, a day's tour in a small vessel with loud music and chicken and all the commercial stuff . But, if one wants to have the real taste of Sunderbans and typical picture of Bengal, one should visit such off beat places. In the yet not so popular places, you'll find a boatman singing a Bhatiali song(a folk song type - an identity of Bengal). If possible, give Hemnagar-Samsernagar a try. You'll have moments to cherish.

                      Excellent pics...

Once I have donned my black helmet, I become anonymous. My face ceases to identify me. My black visor shields others from the rigours of my passing glance while shielding me from their attempts to peer into my soul. I am an anonymous rider shrouded in black. I am no longer a specific self. I am a passing Traveller.

Sundarban's Mangroves and Bhitarkanika's Mangroves are somehow similar and both are nature's wonder
