" It's not about the destination, it's about the Ride. "

How do you feel when you think about doing a solo ride that also for very first time. Unknown roads, unknown people, unknown problems, do they scare you off.
Do you get nightmares just about thinking about it.

This is my story where i faced all of these, the nightmares I use to get , the problems I faced, the path i followed , the stories I heard , and still completed it. A solo ride covering Pune - Ahmednagar - Aurangabad - Jalna - Amravati - Nagpur - Raipur - Sambalpur - Angul - Dhenkanal - Cuttack - Bhubaneshwar - Barampur - Vizag - Vishakapatnam - Vijaywada - Hyderabad - Solapur - Pune.

Re: Tale of Solo Ride 3000+ kms - (Pune - Bhubaneshwar - Pune)

One day I got call from my parents asking me to come Home ie Bhubaneshwar. ANd I got a weird idea about ride to Bhubaneshwar from Pune. Though overnight as this will be my first long ride after Pune to Goa and that also solo. I for backup reserved 2nd AC train ticket.

Googled and received none, who has done this, as there are no beautiful mountins like leh - ladakh and nethir any beach like coastal tour. Next was looking up to map for the route and this is what I found.

SO I had to cross Aurangabad,, Nagpur, Raipur and then its home. 1750km. WTF.i.e on an avg for a newbie like me it will take 3 days. and if I push can complete in 2 day. Went through many articles in xbhp regarding road trips done, to get an idea of all situations. So my plan was decided, to reach Nagpur(700km) day 1 and night halt. Again next day direct to home, it was 900km, but I had to do it. I took one month to prepared my self, got one full face helmet as I already had one offroading helmet, but ride like this I need full face helmet. Took LS2, one saddle bag. Prepared my bike one week before. full servicing done.

So the day came, I started my ride as per plan around 5am in morning packed my bag, tied saddle bag behind and wear all gears from bottom to top, full packed, I was scared a lot. Soon in one hour crossed city to reach highway, it was dark n cold night on highway so was cruising at 60kmph. Soon sun came up and it started getting day, I increased my speed. and as Per schedule I had to reach Ahmednagar around 7.30am. Which I was able to do. And then the issues started, my saddle bag was touching the silencer, which burned my bag, tied it again.
Issue2. never assume the route, ask people, be polite, ask the route if u have no idea. I got lost inside city, wasted 1 hour, did my breakfast and started for Aurangabad. it was plain highway, you can easily drive at 80 or 90kmph.

Keep having water at regular intervals, keep urself energised, on plain roads, be careful, or over speeding cars or trucks. be on one side and enjoy the ride.
Aurangabad to Jalna was good, same plan roads nothing much to do or look at.
From Jalna keep track of route as I lost my way and caused to add up 100kms more... SO ask for directions always. or take notes of your route with all direction before the ride. My this mistake did make me fall behind schedule for 2 hrs. As it is easy to ride in day not night,so was planning to reach Nagpur by 7, but I knew not possible, as I already added 200kms.
The route to Nagpur was via Amrawati. Form Amrawati to Nagpur is smooth 6 lane expressway, so you can have 120+kmph easily. I was riding here at night, so was slow, and it was damn cold, in December and when you ride, the wind make u shiver.
Try to carry transparent visor for helmet to change in case u have black visor, as it et difficult to ride , nothing willbe seen, and on highspeed u cnat keep it open, the wind and dust will blow you off.
                  Regards,
